Insurance

Not too sure where to post this, so I'll leave it here and maybe the admin can move it for me.

I'll be buying a 1973 'Cuda soon (within 2 weeks and yes it's my first one!!  :bananasmi) and I'd like to know what insurance company people are using to insure them.  I tried my existing insurance company (AIG) and they can only offer liability and they refered me to American Collectors Insurance. Does anyone use a different company?  Anyone in particular to stay away from?

Thanks!!

RDF

Congratulations RDF!  :woohoo:  There are a couple of insurance companies out there for our cars.  We use Grundy, but I've also heard good things about Haggertys.  I know there was one more company out there that a lot of our members use, but I can't remember it right now.  I'm sure they will chime it.

I represent American Collectors, JC Taylor and Haggerty. All three companies have been great to work with but read the restrictions closely. Also the companies are competitive rates. A clinet of mine had American Collectors in Mass which was cheaper than the others but when he moved to RI Hagerty was cheaper.
The only one I have had a claim with was American Collectors and they paid no problems at all.

I have a American Collectors Insurance and they were the cheapest when I got them. They have a mileage restriction of 5,000 miles a year. I have never had a claim but i have been with them for around 6 years now.

Hey Rev,
What are the restrictions on Grundy? I might switch sometime next year because I just have liability now.  :banghead:

I've had Condon & Skelly since 1989 & content with the coverage. I never had to file a claim, but I've never heard anything negative about them before.

http://www.condonskelly.com/

They used to cover cars that were stock only, but now have street rod & modified coverage. I have 5 cars covered, & the annual price is under $400.

1968 Charger (In a project state) - Value at $4000
1969 Satellite Convertible (In a project state) - Value at $6000
1970 Road Runner - Value at $18,000
1971 Scamp Value at $5000
1971 Barracuda (In a project state) - Value at $6000

Agreed value coverage with the prices above.

We have an agreed upon value, it has to be garaged and cannot be used as a daily driver.

I use American Collectors. Have 3 vehicles with agreed upon value. Two cars were appraised ,the other was insured at value quoted to them. I raised coverage on one car this year and only had to send pictures. I have had coverage with them for 12 years, no claims, no problems. My policy restrictions are 2500 miles a year, stored in a secure garage, no daily driving.

I have Grundy, I only had to send them a few pics to prove the car was real(I guess).  Anyway, in looking at other companies, I found that some will only insure you in certain States. I guess they are afraid of highly populated areas like mine.  :walkaway:

I have been with Hagerty for three years now with no complaints.  Agreed Value coverage and flat bed only towing if I need it. I have two cars with them and pay about $200 a year.  Can't beat that...

I have had my Corvette with Haggerty for 10 years and when I got the Challenger I shopped it around a little. Haggerty was the lowest, with an agreed upon value. I am also paying around two hundred a year on both.

Have you tried your regular insurance carrier?  My '73 Chally is insured with State Farm with the same restrictions as Dave and an agreed value of $21,500 and the insurance is only $65 per year.

I at first tried my regular guy(Nationwide). Waaay too much money. I believe State Farm must not think you drive your car for that kind of rate. WOW!!  :bigshades:
