Aftermarket foglamps?
« on: October 21, 2006 - 06:18:09 AM »
What does everyone use?  How do you mount etc.  I'm trying to accumulate some parts before my car comes back from paint.  It's currently in Primer and waiting it's turn for final blocksanding and paint.  Any pics or suggestions are welcomed.

Those are nice but I don't think I could justify the $$$.  I have a 72 Challenger and was thinking of puttinsome on the lower valance somehow and was wondrin how some of you did it.  I'm thinking some 3.5" Round Lamps under the bumper/above valence, but there isn't much space there and only a couple of spots to mount.  Just looking for mounting ideas and styles.

I'm not sure they would look right on a Challenger.  :clueless:

I like the look and since I don't have the front bumper guards, I'm thinking of mounting them at that spacing under the bumper and above the valance, as far a innovating I think we all do that everytime we work on them!  I'm looking at the round lights but maybe the oval style would fit the space better?  Round seems like the classic musclecar style though.

Tom

I guess not to many people have them.(Challenger)

Tom,

I'll be honest. I haven't seen them on a Challenger yet. You could be the first to pull it off!!  :cooldancing:

 >:( I guess no one pays attention to my car!  :walkaway:

When I got my car, it belonged to someone in NH that used to use the Challenger to pull snow mobiles and he needed fog lights.  I think what he did with my car was to take out a pair of bumper bolts and just put the fog lights in the holes.  These are pretty old Deitz fog lights, I believe put on in the 1970s.

If you look at the pictures, I think thats what he did.  Never compared my bumpers to other Challengers but I would guess you would see bumper bolts where the fog lights are mounted.

I was thinking to move them to the lower side of the bumper when I get some time by using the lower bumper bolts just outboard on the bottom side.  Might aid with cooling too.

It's hard to find aftermarket ones that don't give it the Wal-Mart look.

The most famous '72 Challenger with driving lights is the car driven by Brock Yates in the original Cannonball Race, Sea to Shining sea.

I remember your car Super Blue!  I was looking for the bottom style.  Without the Walmart look!

Hey Super Blue 72,
Do you have any more info on that original Cannonball Challenger?  I would love to read about it.
Thanks

I used to have a set of _big_ Zelmot rectangular units mounted on the Challenger using the clamp-on mounts (clamped to the back of the bumper, no drilling).  Looked like Super Blue 72's car except they were clear lens and rectangular, but they dominated the grille opening the same way.  Even with relays using them was not feasible since the power draw with headlights caused so much dimming at idle.

Although you don't want the walmart look, I'd take a look at something that would fit under the bumper and be unobtrusive and hard to see when not in use.  Hella FF75 for rectangular, or FF50 ovals might fit though mounting without drilling might be difficult
