I was looking at topcats 71,and the gilled fenders make the car look SOOOO mean.Do you think if i weld in the gills and put them on my 73 fenders/barracuda that it will bring the cars value/buyers down/away? The car is numbers matching, but im not using the orgional motor. Were putting either a 440 or 340 in it and painting it a house of color purple. watcha think?

i wouldn't do it.. I dont like seeing weird stuff like that on old cars...like when guys weld in a 70 tail panel on a 72 ...i just love originality i guess...I think somebody down the line would not like it if they were buying the car from you...Mopar nuts spot that kind of thing a mile away, and with the value of a clean OEM fender these days, I wouldn't chop em up...all of the re-pop fenders coming out will never fit like the real thing, if they are nice, I'd keep them in tact!  :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Though the gilled fenders would look pretty cool, I think it would turn away some of the potential buyers for originality issues.  The other things you're changing aren't too extreme from original, not to mention most people seem to care less if the car originally came with a 318 but now has a 340/440 in it. (I can't believe the prices people are getting for '73 Challengers with 440 swaps in them.) :faint:

Do whatever you like best. It is going to be sweet either way. Nice job on the rear,  :clapping:  you're moving ahead at a pretty good clip, at this rate you will be driving it to Carlisle.

Must be cold out, your threads falling!  Negative 3 when I came in tonight, least the wind quit.  The fender, I dont know what to tell ya on it.  It would need the inner and out lower section, which they dont make right?  Has some surface rust, but hard to say what it would look like stripped and blasted.  Not sure its worth the cost to get it out there.

Can you cut some sections out for me Joe, ill pay you!!!  Which side fender is it?
Colder then a witches tit outside! I have been hibernating

Actually to tell you the truth i been workin hard but not on the cuda stuff.
I have a 2006 400ex quad. I picked up a wrecked 04 trx 450 and installed the motor into my 400ex frame. Sounds easy, but all the motor mounts had to be hand fabed, the radiator and oil cooler had to be mounted which the 400 motor didnt have beings it was air cooled. Lots of mods had to be done. probably have  a full 24 hours into it so far,and it should be running today. Its been a fun project so far building the "hybird". Ill get some pictures later on today.

I had this same question in mind and didn't want to start a new tread to a fairly old question. (I don't want to hijacck this thread either just hate to repeat stuff here, forgive me)  I have attached a pic of this 1972 or 73 Cuda ( I forget which year it was) that was completely modifed but kept original grille and tail lights but has shaker hood, hemi, gills etcc. I thought it was awesome and didn't loose value in my mind. I am not a purist but it does concern you when you make a change that may change value. ( god forbid you have to sell) I think if you modify the later barracudas, cuda's tastefully and done with professional quality you can go to wrong. Just my opinion. This car kinda shows that I think. Anybody have a opinion on this?
