Okay Mike,

New question. With the 5 star, when you sprayed it as a filler and not a sealer (ie 4:1 not 4:1:2) what size nozzle were you using or did you thin it out just a little for better flow?

Let me know when you get a moment.

G

I've been doing 4:1:1 mostly. As I get the bodywork closer, I've been going 4:1:2 more often lately. Thinning it does allow it to spray out better and not create any porous rough feel.
I'm not using a premium gun for the final seal just yet. That'll be next once I get the final things to my satisfaction after blocking.

This primer is really easy to work with you'll find out. Thats why many bodyshops are now picking it up.

Prepped and taped Friday afternoon.

Painted on Saturday.

The weather was perfect for it. 70 degrees, low humidity, with a slight breeze going the direction away from the neighbors across the street. I couldn't of timed it better.

Areas painted were the upper hidden areas inside the trunk, The inner area of the cowl, and upper portion of dash. 1 Qt. of PPG Deltron 2000 base coat. Then clear coat did the trick.

Used a Sata mini jet for the tight areas. This will be the only paint work done until the rest of the body is completed. Plan is to blend final spray into the wheel well areas since they are most visible.

Great to see some progress.  A little jealous about the weather.
I like the color, is that Dallas Cowboy blue?  :poopoke:

Yeah looks close to Cowgirl blue.  :misbehaving:
Even nicer today. 74 degrees. This is just some freak weather so its nice to have.

Everyone else too: Thanks for the compliments. The clear laid out nice in most areas.

It was kinda tricky painting up inside the trunk. Laid on my back inside and tried to get paint all over into the back corners. A drop of clear almost went into my eye. Stung like hell for a while.

The SATA Minijet cup just has a pinhole on the lid for venting. Terrible anti drip design. So it was wanting to drip material out of the hole when I tilted the gun upside down.

Glad no one was around. I know they'd close the lid on me if they saw me in there.

Just the hard areas for now with the minijet gun. Plus I need more materials.
I'm doing the rest of the car all at once is my intention.

Started on the hood today.

Wow was that alot of sanding.  :faint:
Skin coated the entire hood, and grooved in the Shaker ring hood edge very carefully with a air grinder.

Looks better now but it's still has a few hours still to do on blocking out.
