Today I grafted the two sections together. I still have the door edge and lower rear panel to do. I look at it like this... if this doesn't work at least I tried. But so far, I feel pretty confident that my work will payoff with a very useable quarter panel. The last picture is the piece that needed replacing and was removed because it was over heated from the guy who used an Oxy Acetylene to put the quarter on many years ago.

(Prior to new quarter panels being available)

Last week end, I sand blasted the inner areas of the quarter and then I sprayed Rust Bullet on. I have decided to put off the work on the quarter panel for now and start working on the trunk floors.  I have better access in those areas with it still off.

PS, the new quarters out have me seriously thinking of scratching off the quarter I made and just get one of them.

This last week, I had bought a propane torch at Harbour Freight that attaches to the big propane tank. It has a hose and blaster handle so you can go to flame thrower mode. I hit the handle and "whoa" this thing was shooting out a fireball.  :scared:

So I thought ..."OK" just a little bit up under the wheel well to warm up things up to scrape off the undercoating. I was of course thinking ahead of time that too much heat on one spot too long would warp something. After a few blasts alternating the heat so as not to concentrate it into any one area too long, I was soon inching closer to get a better angle while sitting down. Well I hit the blaster handle and a fireball whirled back around and singed all the hair off my arm.

I think it works too good.

The inside of the quarter area looks great  :2thumbs: hope my car looks like that in a year. Do you have the one piece or two piece floor?

I have the 2 piece floor and it is almost done being welded in. It's coming out pretty good. After I get everything all sanded and primered, I'll post a pic.

Just finished doing the other wheel well today.

I did it again...this time the top of my head. My hair...not too bad. :bricks1: Took my hat off because it was hot out, started working again and then...that smell of burnt hair.  :eek4:  Flames roll and sometimes you can't see them.

Tomorrow final welds on the floor.
