What's this 70 Challenger worth? (Pics)
« on: October 24, 2006 - 11:51:05 PM »
This guy called me and said he had a 1970 Challenger that is all apart and he wants to sell it.  It looks to be originally a  FY4 Citron Mist Met. with Green interior plain jane slant 6.  The body numbers match, but there's a lot of rust.  Fender tag is there, this is a two option car.  Bucket seats and drip rail moldings.  The car has been stripped down and all the parts thrown in a pile.  The grill is in good shape and there seems to be some other parts that are usable in the pile.  The body has so much rust I'm thinking that Mopar clown is the only one that would want this project.

What do you guys (and gals) think it's worth?  And does anyone want it?

The 4 speed looks to be out of a 1977 vehicle.

It was a 2 built sheet car.  SUPER RARE for a LA built car.  What would Gold and green interior look like?

Cody,

I might be interested in the trunk lid.  Can I see more pictures of it?

I would think this is where the parts are worth more than the car.  I wouldn't pay more than $800 - $1000.

It would take 2-3x the final value of the car to fix.   And when your all done you have a 6cylinder car.

Remember, Rare AND Desirable are entirely separate things.

don't think I ever saw a fender tag with that few items listed....very unusual car.....maybe worth more as parts than a whole car....clone would be the only way to go with it...

Clone is that bad idea, but soon as there is no slants left they get more rare than a U-code

I wouldnt care to take it on as a builder. It would only be worth as much as the useable parts are worth. I have my eye on a 70 barracuda w a / 6, if I can get the owner to sell, the six is gone. matching # or not. I'd rather have a 440 'cuda/challenger clone than an original 6 banger, but thats just me.

Does anyone have any interest in this car?  The guy has started out at $3,000 for the project (if you can call it that).  I know he is going to come down, but I made him start by throwing out a number.

If the overseas shipping wouldn't be so damn expensive I would take it. I could propably pay 1500-2500$ for it depending on the frame rail, doors, etc condition. Afterall it is a -70 challenger and dropping in the big block would make it a star again.
