70 Challenger A/C dash frame
« on: August 06, 2003 - 03:01:24 AM »
There is currently a frame like this on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=40017&item=2426040752)

I looked carefully at the pictures and compared it to the frame that is in my shed waiting to go back into the car.  I don't think the one on ebay is from a Challenger and I've sent email to the seller to confirm.  There are too many differences between mine and that one.  Mine is a non-A/C frame but there were other differences that didn't add up.

What did make me wonder though, is that since my car was a non-ac car and I'm adding a/c, is the dash frame actually different?  I was originally intending on just painting the frame black to match the interior color change but now I'm not sure.  Should I actually be looking for a different frame all together?

Does anyone know and/or have pictures which shows the differences?

Thanks again.

 ;) Hey peterro,
That was a great catch. There is NO way that dash is from an E-Body. Other than the cut-outs for the AC vents, there should be no difference. BUT...I don't know this, but maybe all frames have the AC cut-outs, it's just that the dash pads aren't cut-out in non-AC cars? Anyway, this is not the frame for you.

Peterro, you're right about that auction.  I'll pull my dash down tomorrow and take a few pictures of it for you.  Mine is an A/C dash, so you should be able to see any differences, if any, from yours.

Well, I tried to get my dash down from the rafters to take some pics for you, but it's outta my reach.... :(  But from what I could see, I'd imagine your dash would be the same, and you'll just need another pad that's for an A/C car....Like MEKrunner said. ;)

Well, I hope that is the case.  I'll be getting mine prep'd then for paint and use the AC pad I have.

Thanks for trying.
