It's sure fun to watch you re construct this sweet car. Keep up the good work, it's great to watch you put your talent to work.  :2thumbs:

It's great to see.  It helps others learn things before they dive in.  Thanks Lunchbox.

Thanks for the kind remarks fella's :2thumbs:

I'm not sure when I will get it done, I have a pretty hecktic schedule, and try to squeeze my car in when I get a chance. Sometimes I wish I could just get a few full days in on it but that never seems to be the case. Everyone elses projects give me motivation to work on mine.

Oh yeah I got my quarter panels today. There was a nice hole the size of a fork form a fork lift i the side. Opened it up and sure as sure the quarter was dented in 3 to 4 inches.  :pullinghair: The packing job was poor and they both went back to Goodmark, what a waste of time and money for everyone involved.

I had this posted in another section but wanted to keep it with my car also before it gets buried in the body section.

Well now I have three sets of inner fenders. One set of originals, a set of Year One type, and a set of Goodmark’s. The originals are off my 1970 Challenger and they will be the standard of which I am comparing the others to.

I started by using a caliper to measure the metal thickness of each of the panels. I can’t say that this test is by any means conclusive for a few reasons. A caliper wasn’t the best tool to measure the thickness but it was what I had at the time. Second when a sheet of metal is formed it is stretched in certain areas to make the shape. Doing this will cause the metal to be different thicknesses in different areas. I did measure them all in the same area so take it as you will

Factory:  .040 in
YearOne:  .038 in
Goodmark:  .040 in

Holes that need to be drilled pass side.

YearOne:  9
Goodmark:  7 (5 are for A/C cars, 2 for the access panel for the alignment cam, and 1 misc)

Extra holes that would need to be filled pass side.

YearOne:  9
Goodmark:  0

Indents that would need to be smoothed or filled pass side.

YearOne:  6
Goodmark:  0

Holes that need to be drilled driver side.

YearOne:  1
Goodmark:  6 (1 is for A/C cars, 2 for the access panel for the alignment cam, and 3 for the fender tag(s))

Extra holes that would need to be filled driver side.

YearOne:  4
Goodmark:  0

Indents that would need to be smoothed or filled driver side.

YearOne:  0
Goodmark:  0

This is to make the panels resemble my 1970 A/C car inner fenders. So if you don’t have A/C, fewer holes would need to be drilled in the Goodmark panels. Also the YearOne panels don’t have the nut plates for the horns, so you would have to reuse your originals or fab something up. The Goodmark panels also have the rear brackets that mount to the cowl and the rear hinges bolts up to, they can be removed if needed, they attach like the factory version. The Goodmark panels are 70 panels and the YearOne versions are 71 and up. Not that big of a deal but there are differences in the battery area and by were the water valve mounts. Lastly the Goodmark panels sit on the top of the shock tower braces better then the YearOne version.

YearOne version $384 to my door
Goodmark version $475 to my door

Hope this makes sense

Thanks Lunchbox.  I need to replace the inner fenders on a 70 R/T I have.  It has not been done because I couldn't get the 70 style panels.  Now I know where to get them.

Had to take a break for a little while for some other commitments but I have everyday till Sunday now to work on the car. Nothing much to report other than still san blasting and I have started to repair some of the rot in the cowl area. I’m trying to still figure out how to do some of the areas and will post up some pics tonight of what I am talking about. I also got some more goodies in the mail. This is the second set of quarters that have been sent to me, the other set had a nice hole in the side of the box about the size of a fork from a fork lift and pushed the quarter in 3 inches. Isn’t much packing material as you can see. The box that they came in had made in Taiwan written on it  :clueless:

Boy I wish they had the one piece trunk floors when I did mine!

I also used the YearOne style inners, from Shermann's and had to remove the bumps and depressions like you mentioned.
