It is a hood to radiator seal and you can get one for 80 dollars from YearOne.

I call it "in the way" ,, and a rust collector.  I do not reinstall on my own cars, and only put them on customer cars if they ask.

Not having it in place means that at lest some of the air coming into the grille area can more easily bypass the radiator.  In marginal cooling situations that might be enough to cause problems.

I agree , it traps the air in front of the rad & forces more air through the rad , maybe it is just where I live but I have never seen that part increase rust  :clueless:

It really dosnt cause rust and the factory used it to help seal the engine compartment so more air was forced into the radiator.
