A blast from the past

Talk about exciting fun this morning, I had to run up to the parts hose this morning to buy a shift selector seal for my 727 cause I'm installing a Cheeta reverse manual valve body in my challenger tomorrow, So I got the challenger out ,warmed it up and drove it into town. It's 6 miles down the road. The air was around 50 degrees this morning. The car was running super. I have 410's in the rear and the engine has around 450 hp or so with 50-100 miles on it I guess. So I'm coming down out of the hills and out to the main road and a 69 firebird goes by. He slows way down as he goes in front of me. 2 lane road and a 2 mile straight shot of no cars. Guys I thought this was 1970's again. He pulls in the passing lane and stops. I pulled up beside him and stop. He gave me a thumbs up and a signal rev to touch em off with him. I dont back down from no body. I gave him a go ahead signal when he was ready,he had a 4 speed in his. Ready set gone. I left his but in my mirror by 3 cars or more and ran close to the 1/4 because I stayed in 3rd for about 5 seconds then let off. He followed me into the carquest store and says wow what you got in there? You got No2 too don't you? Then he saw the 440 magnum emblems on my hood. I said all engine. He said he had 11.5/1 400 cube with a lunati cam
I said...It aint enough and he laughed. Then I said I only had 9.0/1 compression but 35 years of tuning this type of engine. By then, people were coming to look at our cars, I just went and got my seal, got back in the car, and left a signature pair of 9 inch wide dual tread marks in front of the store as I left for around 20 feet. That my friends felt super good for a morning treat. Hope the rest of the day fairs in the same corse

11:30 PM friday night. Settin here in my PJ's thinking about that firebird today. Gosh that was fun. I need to put the right speedo gear in the tranny. I hate my air cleaner. Its a 340 set up. I decided I am going to stick my 6 pack on there. This cool air might be good for it to perform better too. Maybe a tachometer to keep the R's right. I shift by tone. The manual reverse valve body goes in tomorrow. After that, I'm going to start working on my cuda, it needs some fun driving too.
