New movie on the way with a Challenger in it.
« on: November 05, 2006 - 09:10:27 PM »
I have sold several Challenger parts to a representative for the set of Quentin Tarantino's new movie Death proof.  All they will tell me is that it will be a slasher film where a car is used instead of another type of weapon.   The slasher car was supposed to be a 69 Camaro but they settled for a 69 or 70 Nova.  There is going to be at least 2 Hero Challengers in the film, as they called by the film people.  Ironic isn't it?  Mopars saving the world from a Chevy. They have bought a few interior parts and needed certain ones to build a set that is a Challenger interior that is not inside the car. They are filming at least one interior scene.  I asked for pics and was told the movie is being kept secret and no trailer has been released.  The movie is one part of a 2 part film called Grind House which has a released trailer.  If I can find out anything else I will post it.

Definitely sounds like a weird plot . . .  :screwy:   Cool to see the MOPARS on the big screen though and I would probably go and see it just because of the cars.   :grinyes:

I wonder if theres any reason they don't want to give you pictures or say much about their "secret"...?

I checked several film blogs about the film.  It seems it is being kept a mystery to build suspense.  If anyone can find out anything post it.  Hopefully the Challengers won't end up destroyed in the movie.

The original promo poster release had the Camaro...I gotta wonder if they changed it cuz the Challenger and Camaro look similar, but the Challenger is WAY cooler, so they changed the main vehicle to the Nova?!

A recent Maxim magazine had a little info on this film (starring Kurt Russel as the psycho killer dude)

Talked with the movie people again.  The Challenger is going to be a white one "in homage" to the vanishing point Challenger.  I asked for a pic and they might give me one.  I'll post it if they do.

I was at Fall Fling and someone said that a movie company bought a Challenger for an up coming movie that would have Jack Nicholson in it.  I know it was true becasue I wanted to buy some parts from the guy who sold the Challenger and he said a movie company bought it all and they were packing up.  They left real early from the swap.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Now you're talking!

That would be awsome!  :grinyes:

They would have to wait until 2009 though so the new Camaro will be out and they can run one of those into the bulldozers in the end!  :roflsmiley:
