The problem with the Indy Maxx block is: 1) the bottom of the block is extra wide, 2) the cross main bolts protrude from the block about 1/2 inch from the block
On the passenger side only minimal problem with motor mount
On driver side, the bolts hit the motor mount but we drilled out a hole for the bolt head to clear, the headers 2 1/4 primaries when tightened to the head rest completely touching the block. The problem also is the Stage V head with the headers.
I am not knocking the Indy Maxx block, I spoke with Indy re: the width and the bolt issue, I spoke with Bill Reilly re: the mount issue, and I spoke with Tti re: the header issue
With the Alterktion setup, I went with the Flaming River Tilt column and 2 u-joint d-shaft connection to the power steering connection. The upper u-joint also hits the header. So we got a Heim bolt and are going to weld it the driver side shock tower side to pull the shaft & u-joint away from the header
Everyone aware but no one is going to change their setup, unfortunately at this time
I may have a custom header built later.
Believe me, I have converted every stock part from the BeCool radiator to the 3 inch tips (the alterktion with Wilwood brakes, GVO system, ceramic coated polished Tti headers, x-pipe exhaust (not compatible with GVO), Ride Tech suspension in rear, US Tool frame connectors, and almost a hundred other expensive little pieces, the fuel system 1/2 line from tank, with all braided stainless hoses, etc etc etc; when using all these aftermarket pieces, there become some many fit issues.
If you need any info on a complete conversion, please ask me.
I think that MCG mag is going to do a pic story since we have all the resto pics - a great wealth of info
I have spared no expense
, was not anticipated or even planned at the beginning; (of course wife not aware of all the expense, YET
) not aware that all these issues have cost a $3,000.00 mechanic estimate to nearly a $10,000.00 completion due to all the modifications
Going from a small block to this HEMI conversion -
PRICELESS
