:smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:  I guess since I have the money, I'll be doing the buying.  But I don't want to spend the member's money without a good consensus of which one we should go after and which ones we feel are too much to try to tackle.  So far, I haven't gotten too many opinions...and from this crew, I find that hard to believe!  :smilielol:  I've e-mailed the guy for #2...and he still has not responded, so I'll take that as a no that he won't be willing to stop the auction early.

There seems to be some interest in the car from California, but so far, no one has raised their hand to volunteer to go look at it....or any of the other ones for that matter.  That one will require more money to have it shipped, so I don't know if that will be worth it.  I guess we're still "just looking" at this point.

I haven't been following this too closely, but if you get a project, then what? Are you just going to give it to him like that, or are you going to try to get it restored? What's going to happen?

Right now, the plan is to do C-C.com version of Overhaulin and donate our time and talents to restore it by July.  So far, Fishn4Cuda has offered his shop in Ohio, WSM has offered a 440, Four-Forty-Fied has offered a 4spd w/bellhousing and Pistol gripper has offered a 360 with a 727.

Sorry Jackie.  I didn't mean for it to sound like no one has volunteered.  I meant no one from around the areas of these cars has volunteered to look at these specific ones yet.

Thank you!!  I bet we all have secret stashes around to help the cause.  After we pick out the car we'll have to make up a list of needed parts to be donated.

No problem, as I stated in my PM's to you before the calender contest started. I have no problem with helping when and where I can. If there is anything near me I will go check it out. I use to be a buyer in secret for a wealthy Mopar guy around here. I have a digital camera and know what I'm looking at. As far as Carlisle goes I already told you , I can help out with all the PR since I am personal friends with the owners of Carlisle and with one of the photographers for MCG. Please let me know where I can help. As far as donations go I'll see what I can do.

This is a worthy cause, but unless things get rolling really quickly, I think we might be being too optomistic. Sorry, but I think that this has been discussed since at least January. Eleven months have gone buy, and still no car. Now we have roughly six months left, and we still have no car, and very little funds. Holidays are coming up, so people will be off doing family things for the next two months, and pending winter weather will just make things more complicated. Any car that we find, that is even remotely fixable, will probably take every penny that we have, leaving nothing for the restoration, which will cost many times the initial cost of the vehicle. I think everyones hearts are in the right places, but we're talking about doing a full restoration, with very little funds, organization, or manpower. Many people have offered to donate parts and time, but no one has considered the logistics of getting this done in a timely fashion. We're scattered all over the country, even the world, so no matter where the car winds up, success would wind up relying on the Herculean efforts of only a few. I'm not trying to be negative, but in my job, I have to tell people how it is, not what they want to hear. I think that unless we get some professional help and backing, or unless we can gather the funds to have a full restoration done, or to buy a ready vehicle, it's just not feasable in the established timeframe, with the available resources.

71challengher said that he is personal friends with the owners of Carlisle. Perhaps they can be approached as backers or sponsors. Since the presentation will be at their event, it could be quite a PR feather in their caps, as long as secrecy is maintained. They could, perhaps, capitalize on it as a mystery event dedicated to the troops in Iraq, or the family of Mopar owners, or something like that. In my opinion, if it were done correctly, it would generate enough extra revenue for them, to foot the entire bill. On the downside, I'm pretty sure that their advertising for the 2007 events is already cast in stone, and they may be unable or unwilling to alter it at this point. Also, they might not want to start a precedent, as every car club in the country would want them to do something for them next.

Once again, it's not my job to be negative, it's my job to offer realistic assessments so that others can make appropriate decisions. Personally, I'd love to see it happen, and I'll be happy to do whatever I can to see that it does.

Well, for one I'm a girl. And Carlisle sponsers a charity event I run every year and I never got that kind of capital out of them. Carlisle has their own charity events they run at each show so I really don't see what you suggested happening. I have a lot of contacts for the events that I ran and have never came up with anything that big. When I suggested the 50/50 to Rev months ago. I thought it should have been run with volunteers having seperate 50/50's in their areas. If each volunteer could have sold 500-1000 tickets and have seperate draws I think it would have raised a lot more money. VFW's and Legions are a great place to sell. I know from experience. And you are right about the holidays, heat bills and such. I know my daughter and I donated at Carlisle.( I had a some extra money then) So with me being a single Mom , supporting my daughter without child support and taking care of our 4 cars money is limited right now for me.

OOPS! Sorry. Open mouth, insert foot. I'll buy you a drink, to make up for it, if we cross paths at Carlisle.
