Well, for one I'm a girl. And Carlisle sponsers a charity event I run every year and I never got that kind of capital out of them. Carlisle has their own charity events they run at each show so I really don't see what you suggested happening. I have a lot of contacts for the events that I ran and have never came up with anything that big. When I suggested the 50/50 to Rev months ago. I thought it should have been run with volunteers having seperate 50/50's in their areas. If each volunteer could have sold 500-1000 tickets and have seperate draws I think it would have raised a lot more money. VFW's and Legions are a great place to sell. I know from experience. And you are right about the holidays, heat bills and such. I know my daughter and I donated at Carlisle.( I had a some extra money then) So with me being a single Mom , supporting my daughter without child support and taking care of our 4 cars money is limited right now for me.
If we want to raise more money , we need volunteers. IMO people won't buy 50/50 tickets unless it is more local and they stand a better chance to win.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I have a weird feeling about asking folks from the military to help us honor someone in the military. I guess I feel like they've given enough and that we should be giving to them.  Just my 2 cents.
I think when your are doing something for a good cause , you take help where you can get it. :2cents:

I understand the local thing, however, that turns into a logistical nightmare with everyone having tickets and money to send in.  I've urged in the past for members to have their local car clubs get involved and do 50/50's but that has never been succesful.  So far, I think we're doing pretty good.  As members start sharing the information about the 50/50, more people will get involved.

:iagree:

People can handle it the way I am.....I'm getting a list (hopefully) together of people at my work that want to participate.  I write down each name and how much they donate.  I will then send in the amount to Rev and she will send me tickets in return.  The tickets will be handed out in the order in which the money was collected.  This way if they have a beef with the winnings or something, they come to me, not the board where they can't even post something because they are not members.  I'm hoping to get a good response from my work.  I should know more by the end of November, that's when everyone returns from their business trips. :2cents:

I give up on advice on this, since I know nothing about running 50/50's and charity events.

I work with a number of SF guys at Fort Bragg and I should have a meeting with one of them tomorrow morning. I'll ask him if he has any suggestions or insights about how to help this along.

I checked with my SME on Bragg today, and while he thought our project is a great idea, he had no good adice to offer, at least off the cuff.

Well, I see #7 was ended early, so it looks like #8 is the best bet so far for a fair price and a relatively rust-free car. :2thumbs:

Nick,

That will probably end up in our price range.  :grinyes:

Do we even know if Don has mechanical ability, or can restore a car?  :dunno: This baby has potential, but if he has no clue... I don't want him hating us.  :smilielol:
