He also states the car is for sale locally. Any one ask how much to buy it out right away of ebay?
The car isn't as rust free as the seller claims it to be, but I agree it would be a good candidate for this project.

Some of you guys know him a little better but his reply to Steve`s car for sale may be some indication of what kind of project he is looking for.

Yea Steves car would be great but he has too much invested for us to buy him out, needs 11K.

I know Steve`s car is too much $ but Cuda guy was interested in that TYPE of project-i.e. bodywork mostly done but needing assembly and drivetrain.

I know it's still got some time left on the auction, but no reserve and starting bid looks ok.....something to watch I guess.

Looks like a nice project and starting point. And wherever it ends price wise you can add about another $1500.00 to get it back to the east, that's a long way to transport especially a project car with all the "loose" parts. Too bad it has to be so far away.

I found 2 potential cars in a Mopar Collector's Guide today:

1973 Plymouth Barracuda 318, auto, console, bucket seats, ac, ps, pb, db, 8-3/4 rear, no motor or trans.  Needs resto, blue ext, white int. mostly all there.  $4500  918-695-8700 OK.

1974 Barracuda body, waas 318 slapstick, ac, maroon, white int, ralleys.  Motor stuck, solid floors. $3500  641-459-3800 IA

Could be worth looking into.....Does someone want me to call them or are we leaving that up to the admins so we don't get confused as to who has called who?

I like the second one better as it sounds like a more solid car and we already have a drive train we can install!

That's what caught my eye with both of them.  I know we have a motor and trani waiting to be installed, if the bodies aren't half bad we could get one of these and get started on the project.  :working:

Ok,  I got in touch with both sellers, here's the good and bad on both:

Car #1: 73 Barracuda
Frame Rails Ok, lower quarters need patching, needs a trunk pan.  Floors are 80%, said they are a little soft up front. Other than that, the interior is good and it's all setup for AC if needed.  Console is good, he said it looks like someone took the motor and trani out and never finished putting it back in.  He's asking $4500 in the ad, but I told him what we were trying to do and he said he would try to help us out BUT, and it's a BIG BUT, he's got someone that's almost ready to buy it.  This person has to sell his other car first and then he'll buy this one, but he said it may not go through.  He's got my number and if it doesn't go through within a couple of days, he will call me and work something out with me.

Car #2: 74 Barracuda
Rails Ok, front 1/2 of body ok, back half needs work.  Said it looks like someone cut out the rear quarters with the intent on replacing them and never did.  Grill is cracked in the center, windshield is broke, trunk floor is OK, left front fender is ok, right side could use a little work.  Dash Pad is good, small cracks, nothing big.  This car doesn't have a title....ugh.  I told him the same story and he said he would let it go for 2k without the rally wheels, maybe even cheaper if we talk more.  He will send me pics of it along with the VIN so we can run it in Barry's registry to see if it's got any history.  He's sending the pics snail-mail, so I probably won't get them until next week.  I'll scan them and post them asap once I get them.

Sounds like #2 needs alot of work, but if we can pick it up for cheap $$$ (It's located in IA), we may be able to put the rest of the money into body panels and what not.  We've got a motor and trani and if I remember correctly, didn't someone say they would lend us their body shop to do the work?  if so, I think this would be a pretty good deal if we can get this car for cheap and it's in somewhat decent shape for us to fix up.

That's all for now, I'll keep everyone posted.

Thank you for calling!  It sounds like the seller is giving you the real scoop on the car, which is goodness.  Let us know when you get the pics.
