from north carolina to wisconsin roughly 850 miles cost me 695.  i spent a couple weeks researching this and getting quotes and so on.  i had quotes as low as 575 and as high as 850 or so. lots of these quotes included lotsa down time at a terminal here or there that would have left my car at a terminal for days or even a week at a time.  this guy here will pick it up at mikes door and drop it off at my door with no transfers or anything in between

Yep, it looks like Alphabuck is the proud new owner of a 71 Challenger!

Thanks to everyone here for all of your help and support. And thanks to you Joe, I may be able to start on my 70 Challenger now. :woohoo:

Sort of surprised to see the car for sale this long.

alpha, I'm sure the hauler knows this, but I'd put a bug in his ear and remind him not to put his chain hook inside one of the hole's in the frame to tie down.  :dunno:

Kinda sad to see it go  :dunno: It was kind of like an old friend hanging around. I am happy for both the seller and buyer though. It will make a sweet ride for sure.

thanks for the tip 427rt.  i will be sure to pass that on.  one tip i learned from a buddy who bought a ford off ebay recently i can pass on.  if you buy a car from the south and you live in the north you best make sure the cooling system is correctly filled or drained before you get it shipped.  otherwise its liable to land at your door looking good but puking water out of your freshly cracked block.

Please keep us informed about the progress.  That car has been around here so long that I kind of got attached to it.   :2thumbs:

hahah well there was a reason this thing sat for sale for so long.  so far ive replaced the trunk floor and extensions and ive got the both quarter skins cut out and ready to put in the new ones i bought from chucks71.

after that its on to the rear window.  i burrowed through the 6 layers of silicone holding it all together the other night and took that thing out.  missing about half the channel that holds it in place.

its been alot of fun so far.  everytime i find something positive i find 2 things negative.  for instance in the pics it appeared the under the back seat floor pan had a big ol piece of sheetmetal tacked in the middle.  that turned out to be just a piece of insulation and that pan is actually decent.

from what i can see my biggest issue is going to be the firewall.  where the floor pans meet the firewall ive got serious rust issues pretty much side to side for 3 or 4 inches up the firewall.

:2thumbs: What you have done so far is way cool.  Got too love those wide hood chrome fronts on the 71's :clapping:

i think my car should qualify as a timeless classic :grinyes: theres timeless classics on the site that cant hold a candle to the number of views or replies this car has gotten.  in fact its entirely possible my car is the most known challenger in north america outside kowalskis :smilielol:

i started at the rear and havent even made it past the wheel houses yet and ive already bought the car from mike70, the gas tank from bigshclunk, wheels and tires from fj5_440, and quarter panels from chucks71. by the time im done i bet theres a dozen members who will have contributed to my joy and for that i thank you all.

733404 i saved another door molding for you in the same shape as the one i sold you.  its yours n/c if you send me your address again.  never know when somebody might ding yaa.
