Anyone installed the repro 71 Cuda grille?
« on: November 11, 2006 - 09:05:09 PM »
A while back there was a thread about the quality of the repro 71 grille.  The concern was it was not injection molded, so it was probably underiszed and would have a tendency to shrink further.  Did anyone ever paint one of these up and install it?

If I remember right, I think it was 71fish that bought the repro and loved it.

They're still making them.  I just saw one on ebay a couple of weeks ago.  They are making the cheese graters now.

Yep.  I have one, but have yet to paint and finish it.  I have bolted it to the car to check the fit and it seems fine.  In comparison to the original, it it pretty darn close.  The only big thing that stands out is the color.

I'm new to this site and have a 70 Challenger. It's got a 72 front clip and 71 tail lights and side scoop. I was interested in a 70 front end or at least the grill/light bezels or a 71 front since the rear is 71. Does anyone know who is manufacturing the repro grilles?

Everything lines up very well.
You will have to do a little clean up on it as there is some flashing in the slots for the trim to attach through.
For the price, I doubt anyone would be unhappy with it.  :dunno:

Oh my.  :pullinghair:

I'm sorry to say the aftermarket grills haven't hit the Challenger world yet. To put a 70, or 71 grill back on your car, you would need the fenders from those years too. Those are usually tough to get, so I suppose that's why someone put a 72 front end on your's.  :dunno:

I have the latest repro 71 Cuda grill and I have 3 originals. One will be going back in the Cuda ( Cuda is getting painted black and fit with a shaker ). If I color key the grill to the car I'll use the repro otherwise one of the original grills. I've matched everything up to the repro and I've left it out in the sun and I came out and there was a raisin there...lol jk.. It was fine. The big expense is the trim and the inserts.
