Picked up front rubber bumper today from 70 Cuda need advice
« on: November 12, 2006 - 08:38:55 PM »
I got a original rubber bumper from a 70 cuda today and need someone to tell me if they can be fixed as it has piece broken off the the bottom and it is bent up in the middle. I may end up getting rid of it but wanted to see if anyone has had any luck fixing them as I know they are very expensive to buy. It has every stud broken off of the back for mounting. I'll attach some pictures of the bumper so maybe someone has a idea about fixing it.

You might want to pm a member here known as firstchoice,He just worked on the rubber bumpers for the AAR and had to do some tweaking with a press and fixed all of the broken studs.I dont have any experience with them but I can say he did an awsome job with the frt and rear bumpers. If you dont hear from him just let me know,I will be going to his garage at some point to put rearend back together for the AAR-------The Clown

Sorry, this idea might get one of us in trouble...  :misbehaving:

Pontiac had Endura front bumpers on some GTOs and Trans Ams.  If they're made of the same material, why not infiltrate (Discretely!  :bigshades: ) a Pontiac forum and see how they make repairs.

I suggest this just because these bumpers on a Mopar are rare and they may have more info on this.  Just my  :2cents:

Here's a couple "How To"s

Not sure they cover as extensive a repair as your's needs, but worth a read.

Good luck straightening it, I took mine to a fab shop twice and even bought a steel bumper for them to compare to and it still wasn't right.  I ended up buying a better one and starting over.  The studs can be replaced and I think the filler material just needs to be put on in numerous thin coats so it doesn't shrink up on you but I probably wouldn't be that patient.
