Making A 70 A 70

Don't laugh. My Buddy who really knows his Mopar stuff says he knew of a Challenger that got front 71 fenders and side lamps but the rear had 72 markers when car was new.   

Ma Mopar did some funny stuff back then.  That would be a rare apple! 

That's probably more believable than the scenario I presented.  Usually the following year will get left over previous year stuff.  Like my '72 has a '71 dash in it from the factory since it was made on 8/17/71.

  Same guy mentioned above has a brother with a nice 72 RR. He bought car in 73 from Original Owner. Car has never been in an accident or damaged but car has a 71 Grille.

Hey Everybody,
 I figured out the VIN, but the cowl tag is a bit difficult. Here's both.
VIN: JH29N0B118871 / I got Challenger, High Price Class, Fastback, 383 4bbl High Perf, 1970, Hamtrack assembly plant out of that.
Cowl Tag: R11 V7X Y05 26 EN2
              G34 H51 L31 M21 M31 N41
              V1X A01 C16 C26 C55 G32
              FJ5 H5X9 000 909 012208

The bottom set I think the FJ5 is Sub Lime and the 909 is Sept 9th and the 012208 is the Veh Order No.
The rest I haven't found. Can anyone figure the rest out?

I beleive the 26 is the radiator size and 000 is the upper door paint color which is nonexistant on E bodys.

Looks like from your VIN number you have a 1970 SE Challenger. Cool

Hey Rowdync, does your fender tag have the vin on it as well? Usually the fender tag will have the same numbers as your vin. Also, just in case someone has been doing a switch aroo on you before you bought it, there are other places on the car to check the vin number against the tags. Just some suggestions, hope you get it all worked out. Also, thank you for your service to all of us.

Thanks Plum6PAK. I appreciate it. Also, the Vin on the dash matches the cowl tag. I think the guy who put the car together took the cowl tag off the original fender. I didn't know there were other places to check the Vin on the car though. Also the guy a got the 70 tail lights from still says his uncle has a 70 Chally and that I could bring my camera up and take some reference pictures to go by. I thought that was cool.

If you wanted to confirm that the unibody structure matches your dash V.I.N. and fender tag, check for the last 6 digits of your V.I.N. on the top of the cowl area.  There is also these same 6 numbers on the upper portion of the radiator support frame. (I believe it was just the six numerical digits, but may be the last 8 digits of your V.I.N. as I haven't been around my car too much in the past two years.  The two extra digits would be the model year "0" followed by the plant "B".  These would be found on the transmission case as well as the engine stamping boss had nothing been switched out of it.)

Definitely no after seeing fender tag info - car was built in Sept of 69
