Has anyone here ever used one of the Secret Audio systems for their car? I am in the fact finding mode and the concept seems okay, but I heard from one local guy (of course he doesn't sell them) who said the Secret Audio systems are absolute garbage..... Hopefully someone here can give me some "been there done that" information on the system.
If not one of the Secret Audio, can anyone tell me if there is an easy way to mount a new generation type stereo in the dash of a '73 Barracuda? Without it looking like crap and / or cutting up the dash.
Thanks in advance

Pardon my ignorance but what is a Secret Audio system?  :clueless:

Is that a particular name brand or just a hidden radio unit somewhere?  :dunno:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I installed one in the last hemicuda clone i had...not cheap ($470 without speakers) but no way I'd say it was junk. Installed it in about a day, 10 CD changer mounted up under the package shelf, tuner/amp under the rear seat, head unit in the glove box. Got the wireless remote, which is a must in my book. Installed a dual-voice coil speaker in the dash (stock location, had to cut the dash frame a little bit to make it fit) and rear speakers in the stock locations and UNDER the package shelf board. System worked great, and sounded good too. NOT a high end type system as far as sound quality, a sub woffer would have helped. But i had the AM radio in the dash as a dummy, so maintained it's totally stock apperaance and i had AM-FM 10 CD capability. I'd buy another, and did install one in a friends 71 Cuda ragtop, he's happy with it also.

Thee e-bodys must have been the very 1st to use a single din size radio I have had no problem fitting aftermarket radios for 25 years. Check this link. http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=21379.msg211138#msg211138

Thanks for all the responses. Especially yours Bullitt, cuz my whole dash is sitting in my basement and I should be able to construct this thing, using your ideas, in relative comfort. I really dislike building or fitting anything upside down. Of course that may have something to do with the lining up of my bifocals, which makes such adventures even more of an adventure.  I'll take pictures and, if I ever figure out how to resize, post them on the build of the thing. It seems to me that the Secret Audio is a good idea, but I'll probably be going with an in dash model since I know a way to install it now. Again, thanks all......
