Resister coils inside a fuel tank sending unit?  :clueless:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I wonder if his hint, "getting warm" has anything to do with it.  I hesitate to guess as I don't have a pic to post. (And because I'm probably wrong!  :grinyes: )

It's not in the rear or has anything to do with the fuel system.
It is an electrical system part.

Yes sir, your right! It is part of a ballast resistor.
Do you know what part this is from?
Hint: Not part of the ignition system.
(I restore these devices and the stainless steel resistor coils in the picture were custom made for me.)

I would have NEVER guessed that, which is pretty sad as often as I replaced them over the years.   :bricks1:

I would guess the older point style voltage regulator.

I will try to get something posted tomorrow.  It will be hard to come with pics as good as yours Slotts.

Hi Challenger6pak,
The first picture was going to be the next clue and the second the final answer confirmation.
The other picture are ones that I am currently restoring.
I hope you find a good one for us!
