Congrats. When my friend Don and his wife were expecting. She told him he wasn't allowed to pick anything related to cars. He tried Dakota, Dodge, etc. She wouldn't give in, Don said to her how about Tucker. She agreed not knowing it was a car and she thought it was really cute. So when Tucker was a couple months old, he went to the video store. He rented the movie Tucker. Went home popped it in the VCR. Boy ,was she mad. :smilielol:

Well, maybe it would be a regional thing, but to us living in this part of the country,...........Dixie Cup was a namebrand for a plastic cup that was used for among other things at pickniks etc. But I could see how certain people would/could associate the "cup" part with an item of a ladies wardrobe. Uh, which were ya thinkin of Ken?  :roflsmiley:  :blah:

Rev, You would have definately been the only Hortense that I would know. The scary thing is that if anybody would shorten the name in a casual calling.

Something like Gertrude as a middle name would have been sooooo  :-[

Barry, Gertrude has to be Norwegian heritage??

I found a few years back the only correct name for a possible baby girl here; Tea (or Thea)!
I don't know if anybody in the US uses that name, but it's a regular (not very common) name here. In Scaninavian languages you would pronounce it ...  yes: T/A  :swaying:

That's so good, but I haven't told my girlfriend yet, hehe. Not that we're planning any babies anyway.

If we had a boy I don't know for sure, but my girlfriends last name start with an R, so I would have tried hard to give him two first name starting with A's.
Right initials: AAR.

Ok, I'm weird.  :D

Very "uplifting" name with implied long reaching strength.

Not necessarily, women here choose if they like to change their last name to his. Even the man can take her name if they feel better so. Children often have both parents names if different. A lot of changes in these "rules" through the seventies and eighties.
