The allen-headed bolt/plug.

Mine will not budge. Even getting extra leverage from a steel tube on the handle of my ratchet.

Nada.

If you were looking up at the bolt from under the engine, I would be turning it counter-clock wise.

I'm seeing about 4 threads exposed, so I'm assuming that the jackasses that worked on the car before I got it cross-threaded the damn thing.  :pullinghair:

I'm expecting the worst, but every once in awhile you'll encounter the occasional reverse threaded bolt, figured I'd ask just in case.  :)

It sounds right so far. The plug does not go all the way in when tight. I just had a big allen wrench that allowed me to use a little torque on it.

Well, it's good to know that it's not unusual for threads to be showing, but I tried turning that thing with a 3/8 ratchet with a aluminum tube on the handle and I couldn't get it to move at all, in fact, it started to strip the allen head on the bolt/plug.

I suppose it's possible that I just didn't have it lined up straight as that bolt is on a diagonal axis and I'm coming at it from the top...

I'll try letting some penetrating oil soak on it for awhile and see if that helps.

If not, I suppose I'll be drilling that little sucker out.

The sad thing is, after you have installed the fuel pump, this thing doesn't need to be much more than finger tight. Do you have an Allen key big enough to fit it? I would prefer that over a ratchet.

I don't have an allen wrench, per se, but I do have a set of 3/8 allen head sockets with one that fits that plug.

It's just in there really tight.

If the penitrating lube does not free it try a little heat from a propane torch.

 Good thought!!  :2thumbs:

I just hope you have the old fuel pump off by then, so there is no explosion from gas vapors in the area.

Pump is already off. As is the alternator.  :-)

OK,

It's a shot in the dark here, but this is it. Heat the plug up, and grip it with a pair of vice-grips if you have a pair that will fit inside that Allen head. I can take mine of that way now. Of course, I didn't over-tighten mine either.  Like I said, it's a shot in the dark, but if you are already stripping it doing what you are, this can't hurt.
