440 Magnum to 440 Six Pack ???

Would it simply be a matter of changing the intake manifold and changing the carbs to change my 440 Magnum to a 440 Six Pack ??? If so, is this unadvisable for any reasons ???  Lets keep in mind that it was originally a 318 car, so we are past that issue.

Yes, that is pretty much all there is to it if you have the right cam. Take my word for it, SIX-PACK setups are a lot more touchy to deal with than a 4 bbl. Harder starting, but the prestige is worth it! :grinyes:

If tuned right they start right up. No reason not to do it at all.  :thumbsup:

I've spent several hundred dollars with a mechanic that has drag raced mopars for 20 years, and the car still starts hard. After it is warmed up it starts and runs fine. I know several people on this forum have had the same problem.(Chevy convert)s one.

I have set up more than 20 systems in the last 3 years , unless the crabs have some internal problems thay should be easy to tune in . There are several members here that I have tuned their 6 pack systems , need me to fly down ?

Maybe. I have headers on my car as opposed to the original dual exhaust with stock manifolds. After it sets for a couple of days it starts after cranking the hell out of it and then smokes like hell untill it warms up. After that it starts and runs fine. Has to be a choke issue.

sounds like it to me , the choke spring is adjustable on the original units

Umm there were 3 -6 pack intakes that I know of , the eddy STR cross ram [discontinued decades ago ], The Weiand Tunnel ram [discontinued years ago ] & the Eddy Street Intake [still available ]& the Holley carbs Still avaialable
 never did figure out why Holley makes carbs but no intake & eddy makes the intake but no carbs  :clueless:

Dave..I got tired of that whole hard starting leaking thing. I figure with a six-pack car the fuel system has to be in order so here's an update:
With the following new parts: gas tank, 3/8'' sending unit, fuel lines, filter, fuel pump, vapor canister and total rebuild of all three carbs...drum roll....surprise she start's right up :thumbsup:

But now if I can just get the g.d#!*ed valve covers to seal :swear:, I could move on to the next issues with the car. Is it possible that my aftermarket pcv valve is undersized for a 440 ?

I am really having second thoughts if its going to be like that. I do plan on taking to a local performance shop though.

I have many things to do to my car before I feel it's "finished" but what do you think about the six pack for the 340? I saw this setup on promaxcarbs website.

I love the 6 pack good milage & great power , with the Promax mods it will be better than stock for sure
