Option and Base prices
« on: November 27, 2006 - 10:39:38 PM »
Maybe Barry will now this or someone else...

Is there a way to get a list going of what each option would have cost in lets say 1970? Also a base price of car from that model year? :1zhelp:

The pocket salesman guides have some of the option price info, but they are not complete. Richard Eherenberg (E-Booger) from Mopar Action sells reproductions of the books on Ebay.

I have a copy of something called "1970 Plymouth Barracuda Confidential Price Bulletin".
It's Bulletin No. FB-DD, dated September 23, 1969 and revised March 2, 1970. If you're interested in a copy I could mail you one, just please cover my postage.

Did you get those from an online decoder?

"J54   Hood insulation pad" is a legitimate code from 1977-80

For the E-Body years J54 is sport hood.

Yep. Some codes have different meanings for different years and they do not disclose that with online decoders.

Here some other details it did not catch;

H51 is Air conditionig with heater.

V1X   Full vinyl roof, black, boars grain

H5X9, the 5 is for bucket seats with cloth inserts.

The spellings are off too, duel should read dual, ralley should read rallye.

Small details for the most part, hopefully someone someday makes one that is accurate and year / model specific.

What is boars grain?  Is that pretty much just a normal vinyl roof?

Boars grain like pig skin. (fake pig skin of course) The boars grain tops were available in black, white and green.

The only other grain available in 1970 on the Challengers was the gator grain.

1970 Barracuda / Cudas also had a mod top available.

Thanks Barry your really good at the codes wish I was...

If my car had the pedal dress up and the flip top gas, would that be in a package or would it have been seperatly coded?

The flip top cap and pedal dress up were on the broadcast sheet but would not appear on the fender tag.

The only package that I know of for sure (off the top of my head) that included the flip top was the A53 (Trans Am) package on the T/As.
