Painting trunk/tailpanel black
« on: December 02, 2006 - 03:14:57 PM »
I already painted the trunk gutter the color of the body, but I want to know where the body color ends and the black from the tailpanel begins.  Anyone have any good pictures of this area?

Just did mine (well kinda it came out lousy), I guessed, used the double metal on the sides & I brought that across just inside the rear lip, just so when you close the trunk you can't see the line?
I can shoot a pic of the line tomorrow if you need, see if it's close to what the other guys post up. Rich.

OK, on a 1970 Cuda the black out is contained inside the loop of chrome surrounding the tail lights. (the M88 option)

You can see the technical drawing for it at this link;

thanks barry, wish I had the trim, that line is hard to make without the trim to cover up my tape lines! :banghead: Rich.

Well, you car is not a '70 so the information does not apply for your year. The newer models did not have the same molding.  ;)

So under the trunk lid, it should all be body colored then, correct?

Ahh yes, looked at the diagram, my moulding should be(well if I had it) on the quarter panel & trunk lid!
