Not a Gator or Urban fan, but I have already watched the Michigan--Ohio State game once this year. Michgan couldn't get it done---give someone else a chance........
However it turns out, I'll prolly watch the game.. We will know later this evening I guess. We need a playoff system. Take the 8 top teams, draw up the brackets and let em play it out. No arguing that way, the winner is the Champ....
I know that the Bowl situation is a HUGE money maker for the NCAA and several cities that host them. I guess that is one of the main things that is keeping the status quo. Let's see:
NCAA playoff format sports
Baseball
Basketball
Lacross
Softball
Track and Field run regional, sectional, and divisional qualifiers
Etc.....
Pro sports playoff format
ALL of them
So what's the deal in NCAA football, it seems that they are the only ones NOT having a playoff to determine the true Champs?
How about a 16 team bracket? Take the top 2 teams from the 8 best conference and have all first round games 1-vs-2 across the board. Now you are down to 8 teams with supposedly the top 8 left. The top 8 should be potentialy competitive, look at UCLA today. The bracket positions would have been predetermined. In other words the bracket would already have Big 12 team # 1 -vs- Pac 10 team # 1. ACC team # 1 -vs- Big East team # 1. These are examples only, and which conference played which conference would rotate annually. You wouldn't know which specific team would be in the assigned slots until each conference playoffs have determined. After the conference championships, simply put em in the pre-assigned slots and let em go.... As you can tell, I am NOT a BCS fan.... lol
