For some reason, not all the caps got the rubber piece. Here is a shot of the 173 mile T/A, you can tell it never had one installed.

So I learned something new again! almost dailey lately

Now I'm curious, the flip top and locking cap were a set? and if I lose my cap, what's a replacement gonna cost?

Thx Bullitt,

I might just buy it.  It always bothered me that it rattles around.  Maybe I just have too much time on my hands?

 :dunno:

I sold an NOS one of them a few years ago. I found it in a stash of parts I bought off of a guy. Got around $400-$500 for it IIRC....guess i should have held on to it longer....LOL!

now that I know that it's original, I'll have to attach a chain to it so it can hang while gassin' her up :grinyes:

seriously...is there any way to "clean" it up or make it look better?

Hey guys, in reading this thread I have a question.....

I got a Stant locking gas cap for my 70 and it sure does build a lot of pressure when I open it......should I look for another cap and if so anyone got a brand/part number?

They are pretty easy to take apart, the upper & lower body are Dichromate like a Holley carb, plenty of shops offer that finish, & the cup portion is clear zinc...
