Mig wire question

I've always used .023 wire in the welder, I see the local farm store sells .024 and they have much better prices, but they don't carry .023.  How much difference is there and should the .024 work?  I hate to spend 25 bucks for a roll and not work, but as much welding as I do any more, 8 bucks will add up

One thousands of an inch is neglible and will work fine.If you go to .032 you would need to change the rollers and tip.

Yeah, sorry I'm a little late on this one , but if you are using a brand new tip you'll find that the wire drags causing what looks like a very soft arc. It won't have much  , , ,  uhhh, sparkle to it. ( crackle if you prefer) . The .024 will work with the .023 settings as far as the welder is concerned, but use a used tip.
28 years of welding experience should say something . ( damn it sucks gettin old ! )

Me too V, welded for 18 years, I probly got black lung from it. 
Take a new tip and run a piece of 024 wire through, if it drags a little just use a drill bit to open it up, it will work just fine.

HOw does .035 flux coated work related to the .023? I have used the .022, it's crap.
It's been a while since I replaced my wire, so I'm thinking I might need to take it back.
What do you think?

I run .023 ER70S wire, with 75/25 argon / co2 gas. I didn't like the flux core wire. Too messy. Drilling will definitly work ! (just don't go to oversized!)
Yeah, I worked in a shipyard for 14 years , black lung city! They never told us about respirators back then !

I have used the .022, it's crap.
It's been a while since I replaced my wire, so I'm thinking I might need to take it back.

Were you using gas with it? .022 is a solid wire (no flux core) and needs to be used with gas. It will definately weld like crap without gas!
