    Is it true there were never any 71 R/T convertibles built? Help a newbie out.  :dunno:

    There have been a lot of '71 Challenger R/T convertibles built, its just that none of them were built by Dodge! :lol2:

    True, but a 71 convt done right looks pretty good and they should have built one dang it.  I am having my 71 vert restored and am looking hard at making it an R/T clone.

    I agree the R/T clone convertible looks very good.  My 71 Convertible came plum crazy with white side stripes.  I just need to add R/T at the end.  I never saw the original 318.  The 440 from my Grandfathers New Yorker can stay in the car.  Challenger Gary has built several 71 R/T convertible clones and they have looked great.

    I feel like I've just been caught with my hand in the cookie jar. ha. I wish I had an e-body. Yours is mighty fine looking.

    I actually bid on a 74 Challenger Ralley on eBay about a year ago.

    I'm one of those guys waiting on a new Challenger T/A. :burnout:

    I guess I sort of am building a 71 R/T Convertible. I have an hemi orange 71 vert, was an original 383-2 candian car. Original motor is gone. I have put a 69 426 street hemi in it (has  Superbee VIN). The motor has a fresh professional rebuild and all of the original periphials, carbs, intake, exhuast manifolds, etc. It is an automatic wihn 3.91 suregrip.

    Car has been given rallye hood, hemi suspension upgrades, correct hemi exhaust, rear valence w/cutouts, 15" rallyes, etc.

    I do not plan on putting R/T badges on it however, and I am keeping the dark argent grill and rear taillight panel.

    I've thrown out trying to trade it with a few folks, but honestly it's not going anywhere, unless I was offered an insane amount of $$.  :clapping:  Shape...the bottom's as nice as the top.
