340 6-Pack cam selection
« on: December 06, 2006 - 12:49:57 AM »
I am getting ready to rebuild by 340 and I am planning on running stock X heads with a 6-Pack and stock compression (around 10 to 1), I will be running a 727 auto could run a stall if need be and 3.91 posi out back on 28 inch tires. Any suggestions on camshaft selection. I am considering mechanical and hydraulic, no roller cams. I will drive this car on the street primarily.

I like the performance of my Comp Cam XE268, in my 10:1 360.  Provides plenty of hp and still lets me run my stock converter with 3.23 gears.  I also got 17 mpg on the highway.  Just my  :2cents:

Hyd -I would look at the Engle or Lunati VooDoo no need to replace the converter pick a cam in the range of the K 56 Engle
solid - I use UltraDyne grinds

At the moment I do not have a converter, I am going through a 727 and have not ordered my converter yet, so ordering a stall would not be  a problem. Thanks for the input.
