Green does kill it a little. As far as non numbers match, it has a documented FACTORY replaced block. The trans and everything else are original and match. The rust isn't as bad as you think. It just is like any car the suspension and misc things on the underside have surface rust, no rotting.

It was a killer deal for sure.

As Tommy said, green is sometimes a negative but you have to keep things in perspective, a nicely restored 1970 Hemi Cuda (another green one!) sold at Barrett Jackson last January for double his asking price. Sure, Barrett Jackson is a unique selling environment, just because one sold high there does not make the rest of them worth the same amount (but it sure doesn't hurt them!) and yes, the market has softened a bit since then, but no matter which way you slice it, 150K for that car is a good deal.

This is a hemi challenger that was for sale on Moparts. Date correct block and numbers matching tranny. This seems decent for a hemi challenger.   :dunno: I didn't know you could buy any hemi E bodies in that price range, this is 2 now.

BADFISH,

Keep in mind that all E-bodies were not created equal, Cuda's and Challengers are two totally different markets, there's usually a big gap in their values. There are allot of other variables to consider as well like current market conditions, factory options, documentation, history, and condition.

Congrats on the sale. Give us some details what kind of a person bought it and how much did it go for? Next month Barrett has 15 hEMICUDAS going across the block I think that might bring the price down on those cars so it was good timing selling yours now.

Yeah that is very true, guess I don't know the market very good of these cars as they are out of my price range.   :walkaway:  For now....

I agree Jeff, there are a BUNCH of Hemi cars going accross the blocks at the upcomming Barrett, but few are original Hemi cars, (LOTS of clones) and even fewer yet that are what most people would consider primo examples. Anyway, what will happen at the future Barrett auction (or anyplace else) is anyones guess.

There is allot of talk about the current market being soft, and while I agree, prices aren't moving upward at the pace they were a year ago, based on what my customers tell me I think things are still pretty decent out there in the private buying & selling sector.

Regardless of the market I never fail to get surprised at Barrett results every year, you just never know what's going to happen (high or low bid results) sometimes a clone will exceed the price of the real thing just 3 cars in back of it, other times a quality car will bring 3 times any previous high record selling price, it just depends on which two guys decide to out bid each other, it's really crazy!

Personally I don't think you will see very many high quality Hemi cars getting auctioned off for much less than current market, in fact I wouldn't be surprised to see a few examples go even higher, especially if they are special in terms of extreme rarity/condition.

:iagree: It's amazing what can happen at the B.J. auction. I t just depends on who wants what and what they are willing to pay for it. :grinyes:

As I once said, the price increases will slow, and finally top out. When that happens, the investors will bail out. That will start to bust the bubble.

There is some what of a trickle-down-effect too. When these guys see that the Hemi's, other high end cars, or clones, are going for X amount of dollars, it seems to push the market up somewhat over the whole range of engine sizes/options.

I paid way more for my 340 4-Barr/4speed then I wanted to, but the guy specifically looked up the prices and if he was looking at a Hemi or a Vert it didn't matter to him. It cost this price to him. Now he also knew that there was some sentimental value to the car from my father and I; but he checked the internet and learned quickly how much these cars are going for now days.

No more of the early 90's late 80's without the internet to see what stuff is going for. Which has another trickle down effect on Ebay. Oh that A/C vent duct went for $100 bucks last week well it’s worth $120 this week...

Makes me want permanently get ride of my cell phone then go drink some beer in the garage and listen to some oldies... :horse:
