I don't see any openings for the air.  :clueless:

 I thought this type had 2 holes towards the front of the car, but maybe these are in the back of the filter assembly?

I think the upper housing is about 1-1/2 inches bigger around than the baseplate.  This creates about a 3/4 inch gap for air all the way around the housing near where the upper housing and baseplate meet.  At least that's the way I remember my old one.   :2thumbs:  But I am Old and I might remember it wrong...    :dunno:   :clueless:   :roflsmiley:   :bigsmile:   :cooldancing:

You`re right OS, There`s a big gap between the base and housing.

Yes, it`s a factory 383 car. Sold as new here in Sweden.
