Nice pics, Barry!  I've only seen a couple whales when I was on vacation in SoCal.  It's pretty cool to watch them off in the distance....Dolphins are very cool to see, too.

I hate to be the one to say that it is pointless to sign.  A good cause most for sure, but after doing some research MOST ALL internet petitions are invalid and when presented don't mean a thing.  The reason they are invalid is because the petition has no way of verifying WHO ACTUALLY SIGNED.
I hate to say it but I wish all internet petitions to stop and their be a sole location for internet petitions that can be signed and verfied.

Now I know that I wouldn't want my name on a petition for crushing old cars, but if someone started a petition for that and just collected a bunch of names out of a bunch of phone books and put them on a list would they have a valid petition (just like the one you all signed)?  This is the reason why the internet petitions are nothing more than a joke.

A new system needs to be developed to tap the potential of the internet and to get all the voices around the world to be heard.  A sole location that can house a petition, validate the signer by SS#, IP address, DL# or another form of personal identification along with the name and address would be key.  However doing that would really throw off the government and they wouldn't want that.  Think of all the petitions people would start.

Very nice pcitures BTW  :wow:

I agree MyMoper, but it is safe for the person signing, so you really have to ask yourself one question......When did not doing anything make a difference? There's absolutely no harm in trying. 25 seconds and you're done.

Although this cause seems worthwhile, I can't support anything that Greenpeace supports.  Their tactics take away all of their credibility and they are 100% anti-capitalist.

"I don’t believe in the market approach.... It results in treating toxics or pollution as a commodity...When companies have a bottom line of profit you won’t have them thinking about the environment." - Greenpeace USA Executive Director Peter Bahouth

Nice Pics Barry.  I was by Faust Rock (the buoy with the sea lions on it) last saturday.  No sea lions so we headed north a ways and found them on Little Island.  I've attached a pic, and then a whale pic from earlier.

As for the greenpeace thing, I agree with MJS73.  They have a long track record of being a little psychotic.  If you stand to make a profit from any raw commodity, they have a problem with you.  They oppose the timber industry because it affects the deer/elk herds.  That in turn hurts the conservationist (read hunter) due to less game.  Then they oppose hunting becuase it doesn't take into account the animals feelings.  They oppose mining because it could affect the fisheries in a certain area and that might affect the commercial fisherman.  Then they oppose commercial fishing because it is killing the fish at an increased rate.  Hmmmm.....

I can't understand those that are against everything.
