Thanks for all the comments....it's been a work in progress for me. We started out with a 55g about 8 years ago and then we finally moved to a bigger tank about 2 years ago. This thing is backed up against my wall and I cut a hole in my wall to put all the equipment and sump in there. Normally, the sump is about 15-20g for a tank that size, but because I live in FL and we have frequent power outages, I made my own sump out of a 55g tank. So truely, the tank is filtering about 210 gallons of water 4.5x an hour (it's got a MAG 18b (1800gph) pump returning the water). Here's some pics of the sump in my closet that I had to cut the wall out and finish the inside to make it look presentable. In the sump, going from left to right, it's:
1.) the water coming in from the tank
2.) equipment chamber (skimmer, pumps, phosban reactor, ect.)
3.) 20g Refuguim with live crabs and snails for growing macro-algae
4.) baffles
5.) return zone where mag 18b returns water to tank.
Oh yeah, last pic is of my latest addition to the tank, a lobster. I got him about 2 months ago and he's doing well. He won't get big like deep sea lobsters, but he's still awesome to look at.
