Help --- Seat Identification

Can Anyone help in identifying these seats. 

I picked them up locally and they were advertised as removed from a 70 challenger.  The previous owner was going to install them in his GTX - didnt like the low back seats but then changed his mind.  The seat tracks are definitely not E-body --  Maybe B-body??  Can anyone identify the seat tracks and can anyone confirm these are 70 challenger seats.  There are 6 springs on the bottom and the release button wraps around the outside of the rear plastic kick panel.  The unfortunate thing is that if they are challenger seats - I need to remove the beautiful custom made covers and exchange them for the houndstooth pattern since my car is a HX59 interior code.  These are a really nice set of seats.

Can't help you with the tracks other than they aren't E-Body. The seats aren't 70 Challenger/Cuda seats but are 72-74 E-Body seats. It's hard to tell with custom seat covers on exactly which year they're are out of.

    I don't know NZ . . . they may have 72-74 covers on them but I thought that button release was for the 70 model year??  My 73 has the lever on the back of the seat and the 70 vert has a push button like that??  But I'm no expert??

Well spotted 4C, I didn't spot that second photo until now....doesn't look like a good fit though. 
Maybe our first encounter with inbreed seats? lol  Those seat shapes are definitely 72-74, the covers would be sagging if they were 70 seats, surely. My 70 seats below.......see how the headrest area is wider in the 70 seats where as the 72-74 pinch in quite dramatically.

I agreee with the button being 70.  I think 71's had buttons also - however I think (cant say for sure) that the button shape was slightly different - and the way the seat back wrapped around the button was different.  The previous owner indicated that he wanted a "softer" seat and had more foam put in by the upholsterer. I had a 72 cuda and it has "plastic" hinge covers and the seatbelt did not go through it like it does on this one.

The back looks a little different, but they could have been changed when those seat covers were installed. The seat have hard backs so that narrows it down to 70, 71, or 72. The latch assembly has the long button which only came on 70s, so if I had to guess without seeing the springs then I would say 70.

Looks a lot like a 70 Duster seat.  Here what the latch on one I picked up looks like:

Those seats are correct for a 70 E body. The latch, hinge cover and seat cushions are identical to the seats in my 70 Cuda and the first 70 Cuda I had. The first 70 that I had was all original, I know because I bought the car from the original owner. They are not even close to 72-74 seats! As for the tracks, they are probably B body tracks as they certainly aren't E body tracks. It's a good possibilty the seats came out of a 70 B body, the seats in the 70 Roadrunners and GTX's were real close to the E body seats, the only difference being the tracks and seatcovers.

The 70 seats had the metal hinge cover as Pistol Gripper pictured. The correct 73 seats would have had a plastic hinge cover which was part of the seat back.
