Had been keeping my eyes open for years for a 'cuda. E-bodies are rare out here.
Found one half way across the country and asked my wife if she wanted to take a "road trip".
She said that if I wanted one I should find one closer...hmmmm. Found one closer a week later .
Paid a little too much for her, but she's mine ;)
Here's the day I picked her up a year ago.....

My old '71 Barracuda drove into where I worked. My '71 340 ragtop I walked around with the phone enumber for over a year in my wallet. Wheen I had some money from my '74 getting totalled, I called it, and dragged it out of the body shop who was holding it under the mechanics' lien law. My '70 (the only E body I have now drove into a cruise night, and the owner asked me to check it out and verifty it was worth his asking price. It wasnt. I ended up buying it paying over the course of the summer. Now, interestingly, my boss's wife is the daughter of the guy i bought it from. She saw it in a picture and asked me about it, then we figured out the rest. These cars make the world seem smaller...lol.

In 1985 I was looking for 71 Mach1 to restore, so I went to look at one listed in the local paper. The guy wanted 3K and it was full of bondo so I passed. But he had a number of other cars that he had brought up from the south. The Challenger was solid (except for the trunk pan) and was only 2K. I think I made the right choice.

I was debating if I wanted to post my challenger or not so this is how it was deliveried to me.  I've known the car since 1985.  My brother owned it and had it in storage and lost interest.  True 70 Challenger R/T, 383 Magnum, 4 speed, with A/C, FY1, w/White Interior.

my dad owned mine for 28 or so years before i got it. i wanted it since i was about 5 years old. one day I was sitting on the couch and my dad had been nagging me about hanging up my wrenches (professionally) and joining the airforce. out of nowhere he says, "would it help you decide if i threw in my car?" I of course said yea, and fast forward here i am at my desk wearing my tree suit supporting the warfight with my copper rocket out in the parking lot. the things we do for our mopars!!  :screwy:

I found mine through a fellow co-worker.  One day while at work, the coworker stopped by and metioned that he discovered his neighbor (a single mom) had a challenger parked in her garage.  He noticed the car when doing some lawnmower repair work.  His description to me was that it was green in color, had the number 440 on the hood and had a stripe around the tail.  He knew that I liked Mopars and asked if I had any interest in a car like this.  I asked him to go and see if he could get the VIN and when he returned the next day with it.  I was shocked to learn it was a 440 six pack car - sublime with a FY9 yellow bumble bee stripe.
I made arangements to go and look at it and was surprised to find it was also numbers matching car (except tranny).  The car had been parked in this garage stall since 1980 and with the exception of the wheels and the seats - the car was unmolested.  It took a couple of months - but I was finally able to purchase it from her.

The car is currently going through a rotisserie restoration and am hopeful to have it done by the end of the year.

Well Lets just say that I am really lucky. The year is 1972 way before I was born. My grandma was out looking for a new car. The salesman tried to offer her his wifes 71 mach1 mustang fully loaded and all. :1zhelp: Luckily she made the right decision and passed up on it. So she see's the Challenger and was interested in it. Long story short she got a 1972 Challenger with the 340 in it because she likes the look of the hood scoops. Fast forward to 5 years ago. I drove down to LA with my dad to go visit my aunt bc my mom and sisters where already down there. The day before we leave my dad told me to get in the car with him so we end up stopping at a U-Haul :clueless: . Next thing I know we have a car trailer hooked up the the suburban and are heading to my grandparents house. took us an hour to get the car on the trailer trying to manuever it on the drive way because they had a Trans Am Firebird also that wasnt running. I wish I would have got that car also since they sold it for $200. But now I own the 72 Challenger its been 5 years and I am slowly making progress on it.  But I must be one lucky guy. I havent paid a single dime for the car and wont have to pay my grandparents for it. It officially became mine on the day of my graduation last year.  :dogpile: :dogpile: :dogpile:

had 2 wait over a year to sell my unmentionable chevy retro truck, while the price kept falling out of sight, lost a fortune in the customization.

took another year looking for what i wanted in an ebody convertible, now have been making a 1 of 1 70 challenger hemi convertible with all the bells & whistles.

Will be able to drive this 700 hp gear vendors overdrive cruiser for another 36 years; will be our anniversary 12/20 when i received by transport from MI. :working:

I was in High School (1982) and i was looking for an A-Body Cuda When a buddy called me up and said a friend of his family was selling a 74 . I told him i really wasn't interested that i wanted a 67 to 69 , he wouldn't stop pestering me about the car. Finally he tells me  his Oldest Brother was the first owner and he would buy it but was not able to then proceeds to tell the ASKING PRICE of $200 . So i agreed to take a look needless to say i bought it and i talked him down to $150 cause it needed a Battery  :roflsmiley:

I was looking for a 69-70 Charger for over a year. I kept running across Challengers though. The more I saw them, the more I came to like them. I bought mine from a classic car dealership, and had it shipped. Here is the link. Anyone in Fla. want to go sight seeing, this seems to be the place.  pjsautoworld.com
