Why doesn't Chrysler redo the Charger?
« on: December 13, 2006 - 10:33:45 AM »
From all of the negative press, and potentially lost sales, you would think that Chrysler would redo the new Charger. All they would need to do is make it two door, and put a full length black grill with hide-away headlights on it, and it would probably sell like crazy. I wouldn't buy one the way it is, but I would certainly consider one if they just made those two changes (and did them right).

After it has been out a couple of years, do a re-tooling and subtract 2 doors.

NO WAY. This being an E body site we can relish knowing that the Challengers will rule. The Chargers are nice looking and if the Challenger wasn't coming out.... theCharger would be perfect for the family man with a family. Think about it a Charger or minivan what would you pick. The Challenger would fill the sports-muscle car market and the Charger the sedan-sports market.Challengers need no competition as the mustang, camaro and others already provide stiff competition.

OK,

I buy what you said, but Chrysler already had the 300 out for the 4-door family vehicle. It just seems to me the new Charger is in competition with that. Why not make it a large 2 door car like it was to begin with?  :dunno:

Because the Chrysler is a more high end car, with better options, and its base is higher than the chargers.  The average joe family man, if he can afford one in the first place, would see no use for a chrysler if the dodge works fine  :2thumbs:

The charger sales have been pretty good so why would they change it?  I love how people continue to complain about the 'charger' name being used because the new charger doesnt look like a 68-70......well either do the 66-67, 71-79, or even the 80s Chargers. If you wanted a 68-70 looking charger then go buy a 68-70 Charger, simple as that. The fact of the matter is that the new Charger would run circles around the old Chargers in almost every catogory that isnt opionated.

:stirpot: killer i know what your saying but when i heard they where coming out in the very beginning i told my wife we were going to get one because i was expecting it to look somewhat like a 68-70 model, total disapointment  :pullinghair: what if they do that with the concept chally?going to get one then?not i for one.were talking here about a retro look alike from the seventies with todays upgrades like the stang.heck look at the new shelby!!!why didn't they make it like that to begin with/there were alot of peed of people also at d-c.com on this subject also and it will go on for ever.enough of my babbling for now.---dave--
