casting# are in 2 places , on top of 1 intake runner & under the intake runners
no production head for a 360 is closed chamber , Mopar makes a wicked W2 closed chamber though

this might help some

308s are swirlport but were only made for a brief period and are fairly hard to come by. if i remember right 308s do NOT have the casting number on the intake runners, but only on the underside of the head. You can only see it with the intake off and a mirror, or the head off the motor. . no closed chambers, except the magnum 5.2/5.9 heads are closed but thats a whole 'nother ball game.

Now I'm confused, which motors have 308 or 302 heads?   :clueless:
A standard 360 from say '78 or '79 has according to the above infomation a head I haven't heard of, is there any benefit using one of these motors over say a '71 360? ( I can purchase a '71 motor from the bloke I have bought my car from ) I thought that most later non magnum motors had 308 or 302's ??
I'm trying to organise which way I will be going, when I come over I will be touring a few junk yards.  Any help on this would be appreciated, thanks.

71-85 or so are heads based on the J heads, with some minor changes and on trucks, after I think '75 had AIR injection holes under the exh ports. (not a problem, but visually different) 85-91 should have 308s, and you wont find them (360s) in anything BUT trucks after 80 or 81. 85-91 318s had 302 castings. It's the early to mid 80s where the "swirl port" stuff makes it into production, so what I've found is from 82-85 or so you may have regular or 308 heads...You never really know with Mopar...lol.
