FED X strikes again!
« on: December 16, 2006 - 02:49:59 PM »
Just a note to anybody out there shipping or buying trim. DO NOT use FED X, they are the WORST! This is the second time in 2 weeks I've rx'ed trim shipped thru them that was badly bent up. These people are unbelievable!

This stuff was bent at a 60 degree angle....written all over the box was DO NOT BEND.

I am so pi$$ed off...another set of trim thats ruined.....If you are shipping this stuff, make sure you have a sturdy box that cannot be bent....I put a 2 x 4 in the box to make sure the gorillas dont bend it

FED X SUCKS!

Isn't it the seller who packs the items? Fed-Ex just ship them. Fed-Ex have been really good to me so sorry to hear about your troubles. It'd be pretty harsh to blame the 100,000+ strong Fed-Ex company on two mishaps (probably from the same driver) but I'll keep it in mind.............Anythings better than USPS.  :eek4:

Unless it`s ripped it can be fixed.Items like that need to be shipped in a crushproof box or there`s a chance of damage no matter who ships it.

The hard tubs are what it should have been shipped in. If it was shipped in one of those and still got bent then I think it was deliberate and not an accident......perhaps the courier driver gets jealous of your cars when dropping off all these parts..... :icon16:

That's a bloody shame for sure. But in my experience I have had much much worse luck with UPS. Not USPS, but the cursed brown! I have never had any luck and the fees they tack on top of what one pays initially is criminal.

My personal experience is that I've shipped hundreds of packages thru the US Postal service, with NEVER a damaged in shipping incident. The one time I used FED X, BINGO!  Damaged goods. Now I've also recieved 100's of items thru the mail, and the only three instances of me getting damaged goods is with FED X. So yeah, I think they have a problem, I dont care how many people they have working for them, their service stinks. If you saw this box, you'd know that the way it was bent showed somebody just did not give a rats a$$ about what was inside it. I would not be surprised if it was intentional. Maybe they have disgruntled employees?

I know it can be fixed, but if i wanted to go that route, I'd have the trim on the car today fixed. I bought a nice set of trim that before FED X got it's hands on it just needed to be polished. Now it needs a full resto. Thats not what i paid for.

Was it packed correctly? Not from what I know, but that does not forgive the carrier from using due care in performing it's duties.

I just bought a set of drip trough moldings on e-bay...shipped thru USPS....came thru without a hitch, in perfect shape. Boxed well I might add.

Just venting here people...this is VERY frustrating seeing trim damaged that is just not available reproduction. Thats what we need, is someone to repo this trim for e-bodies, especially the wide piece at the bottom of the windshield. I dont have the time to waste buying this stuff 3-4 times to get 1 good set.

I'll spend a good 2-3 hours fixing this stuff and polishing it. before it was bent, i'd have spent a 1/2 hour polishing it and I'd have been ready to put it on the car.

Was it insured?   :dunno:   Is there any way to recuperate your losses through Fed-X?   :dunno:  I think if I was in your situation with multiple shipments received and ALL damaged, I wouldn't stop raisin' hell until I got some satisfaction....    :villagers:    :villagers:   :stomp:   :swear:   :swear:    Good luck and I'm sorry you are having to deal with these needless frustrations...    :cooldancing:

That does suck for sure, especially not repro items.  :crying:

Well, you have bad luck with Fed, I'm having it with USPS and was told by to stick with Fed-Ex aint no problems yet. Must have close to 350 shipments under the belt too....not bad for a young gun from New Zealand.  :icon16:

Well, hope you go in and sort it out and don't just leave it as is.

I was sitting here this morning on my computer when I get a chime that rings when I get a new email.  I check it and it is an email from Fed-Ex that they just delivered a package to me.  So I head downstairs and sure enough sitting on my front step was a package that they had just dropped off.  C'mon guys can't you just ring the doorbell??!!   :roflsmiley:
I have had great service from the USPS in both deliveries and shipments.  I have been hearing a lot of scary stories about problems with UPS damaging deliveries, and for the most part I don't hear too many complaints about Fed-Ex.  Sorry for your bad luck with them on the trim, that suxx! I am still trying to figure out the best way to ship a my nice Challenger R/T grille core out to get it to a restorer.  Too big for USPS, a UPS store wanted $250 to package and ship it for me, and good R/T grille cores are rare enough I would hate to see it get damaged in shipping so I am afraid of shipping it via anyone! :banghead:

Both my own circumstances on the heater boxes that I received damaged were definitely the shippers fault. I really believe that the effort you or they put into preparing it to ship is the real denomination of wether it gets damaged or not. The carrier is just moving it. There is no excuse for the shipper for sending something and it is received damaged...Period!!

I've sent flywheels and heavy manifolds in the mail. Those type of things take a lot more effort to pack for shipping than a heater box or some trim. If those aren't done right, they break through the box.

NZ, are you sure you don't mean UPS?  USPS is the United States Postal Service & they don't deliver in NZ.

Hemi71,  that does suck.  I would also raise hell with whoever sent it for not packing it well enough.  My daughter just ordered some mugs from England, when they arrived they were both damaged.  one was completely smashed, but they were just wrapped in a little bit of tissue paper.  She complained to the company and they sent replacements.  The second ones were packaged a lot better and arrived without a scratch.

I drive for a common Carrier(R+L Carriers) and i will tell you anyone in the Buisness is under a lotta pressure to get the freight on down the line . The two worst companies i know of in the Buisness are Fed Ex and UPS , They have such high numbers for there freight handler to obtain that it is inevitable damage will occur . Don't get me wrong here i'm not saying my Company is perfect cause i know there not .Ido also know it is more common for an odd shaped package such as long and thin to get damaged than an average box.

We use FED-Ex cause UPS broke 3 things in a row some years ago. One of them was a cast iron exhaust manifold. How the heck do you break that??? Run it over with a forklift maybe?

I must say the other side of the coin is how an item is packed. Weve already shipped a Allante back glass to Ca. from Wi. NO prob. But I will admitt packing is an aquired talent, different things need different methods.

The 3rd side of the coin (huh?) is don't be fooled by warm and cuddly commercials. It's just another box comin' down the conveyor goin' into the can. Trust me on this one a good friend and my nephew work at UPS. Fed-EX can't be any different. Last year my nephew got fired,,,, why... cause a box fell off the line and he picked it up. I'm serious! The unionh stepped in and he was back to work but belive me, it seems to me the more you write "fragile" , "do not bend" or anything else it just makes it a target. Sorry for my rant..  :2cents:

Oh and yes there will be another increase and fuel surcharges next year.  :grinyes:
