the worst part is that the parking lot that it was in is the same one that i park in every day for work. same spot, wheels turned the same, everything. i mean really! it could have been anyone because we are a deployment processing building so lots of folks from all over the base come into our building every day. i am really fired up. if i see anyone with burnt orange paint on their bumpers its on like donkey kong  :villagers: i am hoping that insurance will pick up the tab, they have been good so far and a adjuster will be calling me to meet either tomorrow or the next day. hopefully it is tomorrow so that on wednesday i can go to my wifes OB appt and not have any interferance with the news about my son. anyway, its time to get some kind of rest before another day starts, i will post more as it progresses. oh yea, the car will be turning 200,000 miles in 20 more miles, what a way to break into the new mileage huh.

Best of luck, I hope you find him!

During the last six months my T/A was on the road as a daily driver, it was involved in three accidents.

One lady whipped a U turn and did not see me, she pushed the passenger fender into the tire.

Another lady put the spare tire of her Blazer up over my hood, it scuffed the paint, but no serious damage.

The last one was a young kid, he was parked next to me in his boss' dually flatbed, and he backed over the same front fender that lady #1 hit. It was a hit and run, but there was a witness that reported it.

Thankfully at the time a NOS fender was still available. I still have the old one.

My ex had her R/T parked at her work one day like normal, and the rock pit about a 1/2 mile away had a blast get away from them. Peppered the whole top of the car and drivers side with gravel and dents. One big rock hit right on the back of the wheel lip area and pushed it in a couple inches. It was amazing that none of the glass was damaged.  :screwy:

Just keep watching everyday. Years ago someone hit and ran my 70 Barracuda. Wiped out the 1/4 panel. I was just getting ready to have it painted that weekend. It happened right in front of my apartment. I just kept watching and checking cars. 2 weeks later I found the car parked a couple cars over from mine. It had my paint , primer and spot puddy on the front fender and bumper. I called the police and pressed charges. He got charged with hit and run  and had to pay for repairs.

No such luck. there were no witnesses and no cameras. the only thing that i know is that it happened between 1500 and 1515. i think that it was probably bad driving. but the thing that gets me most is that they didnt come in and say anything. the air force is taught integrity first. it is in our core values.

...when I was in the USAF I was in charge of payroll for the base.....we made lots of deductions for people who didn't learn the "core value" part during basic training....drug use/dealing , DUI were the biggest problems people were demoted for...

...I had a car(73 CUDA) hit at the BX and also had a car broken into on base during my 4 years......hope you luck catching the person responsible......

Sorry to hear about your car. I sorta know how you feel. Years ago I had my wife's blazer repainted and brought it home. That same day she went to Wal Mart and came back home with a fresh scrape and dent in the paint on passenger side. I was mad as hell since she parked way out in lot to make sure nobody parked near it. I was so mad I drove back to Wal mart and found a old rusty Ford pickup worth about a hundred dollars still sitting in the spot next to where she was parked. I got out and looked and fresh red paint on bottom of door where they had hit her blazer. They had to know they hit her truck by the dent and paint gash. Since this was a parking lot I knew cops would do nothing. As I stood them fuming I just lost my mind. I side kicked the drivers door on the Ford and caved it in. I jumped in the blazer and took off. I know that I was being childish but god I was so damn mad. The Ford had numerous dents anyway and they may have never noticed it. But it felt so good.

the claims adjuster is supposed to contact me either today or tomorrow. i took it to my buddies shop (emerald coast restorations) and he quoted 1600 for the repair and its the repair with NO bondo and NO attempting to straiten the panel. if all goes well i should have her back and beautiful again by the end of next month. until then i will drive her and when the shop has her i will be driving either a rental (from the insurance company) or my wifes car, but nothing can replace that feeling of driving mine. im sure that you all know what i mean.  :crying:

That's a bummer,
Never a happy day when someone nails your car and it makes it worse when they just leave. I work for the Navy. You can & should file a claim against the government. Many years ago, I had the engine stripped on my 73 Barracuda in broad daylight while it was parked in a government parking lot. I file a claim against the government, it went through red tape for many months and they finally denied it saying I was negligent. Who'd figure?? SO I wrote my state (VA) senator and local congressman. The military absolutely HATES when congress gets in it's business. I had them calling me at home to get me out of their hair. It took nines months total, but after senator Warner called the Navy about my car, I got a check in 3 (yes that's three) days!! Persistance paid off. Hopefully what goes around comes around and the guilty party will get his (or hers). I hope you get it all taken care of with your insurance!! have a merry Christmas!!

That's a shame about what happened to your car. Probably some idiot who was afraid his insurance would go up.
