Hi conv340

The mark up picture for the slide looks almost like you could just install the bracket 180 degrees and it would put the slide in the correct spot.

Have you tried that?

I know it looks close, but not close enough  :grinno: The other thing is the offset on the bracket is different making it have a top and bottom.

Well you know what they say. If you have nothing good to say... So I guess its been a while since I had any thing nice to say.  :grinno:
Thats not true I have been plugging away at the little things that need to be finished before paint. ( The list goes on and on )  :grinyes:
Since the motor is still in I decided I would go ahead and make the power steering lines, Hydro-boost lines, brake lines, fuel lines etc. etc.
I  found a power steering reservoir and coolant reservoir that matched. I had to modify them, like everything, to work like I wanted, but now they will work. I mounted one on each side of the radiator for symmetry. That meant making a tube for the over flow that goes down over and back up to the coolant bottle. I tried to keep all the power steering lines down low out of sight. ( It's getting crowded down there. )  :eek4: I have a few more holes to drill when the motor is out but I think just about every thing that bolts on has a place to go. I'm sure I'll remember more.  :dunno:
Body work wise I have been fitting the hood to the fenders and making the gap nice. Making a fiberglass hood goodenuogh for gloss paint is painfull. It's done finally and then it hit me!!!!  :22yikes:THE WHOLE CAR IS PRIMED. All the gaps fit its Everything is strait.  :jumping: Well at least as far as body work goes. now its just down to blocking and priming. You have to understand how much I dislike body work to know just how happy I am.  :woohoo:

A big change has happened, I have been talking purple for most of the time I have been building this Twisted Fish, I'm thinking about gun metal Gray / Charcoal Metallic what every you want to call it a dark silver metallic with darker gray accents. I don't know but it just seem to fit the look better. I need to figure it out soon because I started taking to the paint people. It's hard to believe its that close.
I still need to spray the sound deadener and bed liner in and under the car. I sure theres some more little details that will pop up.
Oh I have been playing with the valve covers. I think there done now.  ;)

Looking great Bob,
The valve covers turned out great! Can't wait to see it finished and it will interesting to see the color you go with. I am a big fan of purple but charcoal would look good as well. The color that is on my grille, stripe and tail panel is a lexus color 1EO and most prople that have seen it on my car said that the entire car would have looked good in that color. I am sure whatever you choose will look super. I am not sure when I will be in CA next but will try to drop by and see your ride in color.

I vote for Gunmetal as well. I agree that it seems more fitting for the project, and I think it is a great color. When I get to doing my 71 Challenger, that is the color I am going to go with! No mater what color you choose though, absolutely awesome work!  :droolingbounce: :wow: Keep up the great work.

I've been playing with the gunmetal/platinum(?) color myself. I saw a Camaro at a Goodguys show this summer with House of Kolor silver flake and gunmetal stripes that was awesome and now has myself thinking of color combos too.

Confederate Cuda and I, and maybe some others, are using XV power windows. theres been some problems fitting them. To be fair I have not yet called XV about the problem   but I decided I had better fit my window regulator and see what was happening "before I get it painted" It's a real bummer that they didn't take a little more time to test fit it in all the applications.

The real question is why XV hasn't stepped up and made a fix or even acknowledged the problem?

I would call them and see what they had to say? At least inform them. They probably do not manufacture these and you would think a couple complaints would give them reason to check it out. Also very possible the manufacture has a bad mixed up run?

When I bought my Level II stuff from them they had some misboxed shocks and took care of it after I called. They also had a major fabrication issue. I had to make a couple calls and send pics to finally prove an error was made, but they ended up taking care of that as well quickly.
Now back to your regularly scheduled build!

I did some gunmetal flames over Black on a Harley bike just recently and the colors work well together.   Your progress has been inspring to say the least.   Love your whole concept and attack, it has been a pleasure to watch and i am with you, when it comes to rubbing back, i could not think of much more, that i dislike aswell.

Here is a reference shot of the flames during wet rubbing of the clear.

Its funny and not that I am one to flow with the stream, but I am realizing that a lot of people have been humoring me with my purple color scheme. Not just here but every where I am surprised how many people have shown great enthusiasm for the gun metal idea  :dogpile: some even to the point of saying " they never liked the purple thing" I guess thats why there are millions of "silvers" and about no purples on the street! ( Hmmm... I think I may be talking my self back in to purple here  :lol2:)
But I think the gunmetal thing is really starting to take shape and stick. Theres a lot of details that are sounding good.
As always thanks for all the great comments. C-C Friends are the best. -Bob

On the XV thing Confederate Cuda did call them, a few times I think, with limited success. I had planed on talking to them about what I found but haven't found the time. I don't have anything bad to say about XV I think overall they have done a lot to further our passion. Anyone that gives us more options in the small world of E-body's is a Friend of mine.

I've started talking to body shops there's a couple of places that I've worked with a one that I haven't. The funny part is the new guy seems to be the most enthusiastic he only does hot rods so the whole insurance job thing isn't in the way. We'll see he should be out to see it early this week. I'm getting excited and a anxious to see it go to the paint shop. It hasn't left here since I had it dipped two year ago! I'm definitely going gun metal theres a lot of things that work really well in this scheme.
I finished painting the Lizard skin in and out. The bed liner is just about done. Just a few details left. I sold my XR4TI kinda sad but it went to a good home.  :'( The last of my 2300 turbos is gone. Hay who needs a turbo when you can have a HEMI. Unless of course you have a HEMI turbo like some people. Hopefully soon I'll have some real news.
p.s. the Lizard skin looks purple when wet but dries a flat dark gray. ( It looks kinda cool wet and glossy. )

Of all the daily driver's and you pick an XR4Ti?????

I mean come on!

Did someone drive up from Fresno because Rapido said you guys were the best ones to install their new brake shoes and then decided they would rather take greyhound home and sold it to you for $50?

you'd be better off with a 78 pinto!
