Drove through that intersection many times and never knew the car was there until a couple of years ago. They're planning to televise it being removed so we all may get to see it. It will either be a million dollar museum piece of a big hunk of rust. Will be interesting.

Watch live June 15th. At noon central time it will stream live on oklatravelnet.com or 7 p.m. on kotv.com  - both sites archive their shows so you can watch over and over!

Oh no, I hope it is still restorable, but not likely with that much water.

I'm really looking forward to this. I read about it over 10 years ago. Its interesting that they are unearthing it a day early for the hazmat team  :scared:

Ok I am in New York, and our days start before Oaklahoma's. According to my calendar, it is the 14th not the 15th. They have basically ruined any type of surprise as the unearthing scheduled for the 15th. Anyhow, the entire car, well most of it, was covered with cosmoline. It is a rust preventative. You can read about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmoline.

All it take sis one rip in that bag and she's gone.

Condensation happened. There was oxygen present. There was air in the chamber -both in the bag and in the container.
A few things that the 57 Belvedere has going for it.- Thick metal, Cosmoline and hopefully a super-heavy duty plastic bag.
A few things against it- Oxygen, moisture + 50 years of funky water and temperature changes to make that plastic liner in that concrete coffin VERY sketchy.

I am  to see what happens. No big feelings either way. If it survived, it will be across the street, and then I can see for myself.
