340 Pistons ??
« on: December 26, 2006 - 03:11:09 PM »
We removed the heads and found it to be 30 over on my Cuda engine. The numbers on the piston is L 2385 Can anyone identify the manufacturer?
There seems to be very little ridge.
I want to find out as much info on them as I can to decide if I should reuse them. Thanks in advance for any info.
Dave

The Speed Pro L2316 would be the factory 68 piston 10.1:1 comp

Thanks everyone. :2thumbs:

I had kind of hoped these were the higher comp ones , so I would not have to replace them to get the comp up. Oh well. :banghead:

I agree, 72-74 replacement pistons would be L2385, like the ones I got.  :walkaway:

What would the compression be if I used the 308 heads?

Here are some pictures of it tore down .The pistons are 30 over, bearing shows it was rebuilt in 1981. The heads appear to have larger valves, we will measure them when we get them out. If the valves are 2.02s which heads would be better the 308's or the stock heads with bigger valves?

ported 308 heads are good for 41 RWHP over the X or J casting the compression will remain the same with either head as the conbustion chamber volume is the same
