XV Motorsports Level One Suspension Info
« on: December 27, 2006 - 07:11:06 AM »
Some of you have been following the introduction of our offerings...I am pleased to announce some of the data from the powers that be, concerning track testing of our level one suspension kits. On our 71 Cuda test car, they were able to achieve 1.03g in cornering, which is pretty impressive. Keep in mind, that car also had our stiffening kit, consisting of frame connectors, inner fender braces and a tubular rad support. It was also sporting some good rubber on billet wheels, not sure if they were 17s or 18s though.

The other good news, is that when the 71 Cuda mentioned above, compared lap times with our stock 70 TA Challenger that sports factory front and rear sway bars and 235/245 60 15 Radial TAs, the Cuda was 9 seconds ahead of the Challenger on a 1.33 mile course. Thats a pretty significant gain. Any questions, PM or call!

That is awsome to be able to pass !g with an older Mopar
How much of the gain is attributed to the tires ? Or have you tested cornering with older 15" wheels & tires with the upgraded susupension ?

The tires are part of it, of course. Good tires dropped the lap times on the TA about 4 seconds worth. Its hard to understand what a drop in lap times means without knowing the particular track. The difference is dramatic to say the least.

How many Gs could the stock Mopar pull? Any idea when the numbers for the Level II will be ready?

It depends on what stock really is. If its bias plies and rubber bushings with a factory spec alignment, probably .6-.70. Our baseline had some urethane, a rear bar, radials and probably a decent alignment, that jacked it up to .8. I do not have numbers on the level II yet.

 I think you're being generous with .7 for bias-ply stock suspension...lol.

That's awesome news! Very impressive numbers.  :2thumbs:

Also, I was curious how you guys are coming along on the A-Body suspension? I noticed you have a dart there with a few things...slightly... modified.  That's the look I want to get with my Barracuda.

Cuda is pretty awesome too, I like the wheels. My newest incarnation should be ready for testing over the next week or so. New brakes,wheels/tires, tall spindles, different front bar setup and nylon LCA bushings...

That sounds awesome! Although I can't find pics of the cuda and the wheels you speak of..I'm sure its cool, considering the other cars you've put out.

All I can say is, I really want your state1 it and stiffening kit... but in the mean time, I may just have to go get some things myself. New torsion bars, sway bars (Already have front stock one) probably new tubular upper control arms to. The rear springs are gonna be tough, I want a nice low ride height to even out the major rake my car has now.  New tie rods, all new moog bushings are on the way... definately gonna need to strengthen the front end, maybe weld in some braces and patch up the inner fenders too. I think It'll help out alot!

The major issue I have though, is the front end drives like a boat when I let off the weight. (Going over large humps) And that's with new front shocks. Might have to look into it.. maybe the KYB's arent stiff enough shocks...I'm quite sure they're valved for a nice general comfort ride for the masses too.

Woo here I go rambling! I'm gonna have some fun this winter modding my car.

Anyway, keep up the good work! We all appreciate it.  :2thumbs:

I just watched the dvd that a friend gave me on the 71 cuda and the GTX and was totally blown away by it.These guys are going to great lengths to make a great product. If you can,you should push that dvd out into the publics eyes or post a link to it.I love how they started with the stock 71 CUDA and showed it going through the whole process of upgrades and showed it at the track after testing it on the machine.I wished there was more on the GTX,that is one beautiful car.So if you can get your hands on that dvd, watch it-----------------The Clown

If they really wanted people to see their work, they'd post the DVD on youtube. Maybe legal agreements keep that from happening though.

I've still got all those episodes of Dream Car Garage saved on my DVR though. :)

Got onto a fight with an audi the last time i went out. I took him for a spin up a canyon.Every time we came around a corner I'd dust him.he'd fight to keep up.My brakes just can't hold em off.  i found out i ripped half my front sway bar out,......but he never caught me.  I really need some help with all these ricers around here!  Someday XV will help with it.

our stiffening kit, consisting of frame connectors, inner fender braces and a tubular rad support.

All this stuff is not part of the stage 1 kit correct?  If not, do you have a comparison with just Stage 1 compared to stock?  Is all the stuff above bolt on or are major mods required.
