hood pins clips flat or upright?
« on: December 27, 2006 - 11:59:18 PM »
Can someone give me the definitive word on which is the correct type of hood pin clip for a '70 Cuda?  The corroded ones that came on the car have the clips whose loops stand upright, but most of the decent repro clip sets I see have clips that lie flat down.  I'm thinking the upright ones are right, but I haven't seen them for sale (except for Mr. Gasket and they're the wrong size, I think). Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Is there any chance you can post a picture of what you have? I don't recall seeing the upright style before(not that I have looked).  :-[

I don't have my camera handy, but I snagged a picture off of ebay of some upright clips.  The clip has a little jog in the straight leg side that makes it stand up. Thanks

I wish I could answer your question, but this is the first time I have seen those upright clips.  :clueless:
Maybe most people out there have the repros now?

My first Cuda was factory original and had the flat clips. I don't believe I've ever seen upright clips on any Mopars in the factory pics.

Mine had the flat pins then my Dad swapped them in the 70's for what he said was the cooler look.

While we are on hood pins....The round disk, that dresses the hole and has four screws that attach it to the hood....

do the screw holes form a triangle or a square?

most pics show then in a square formation, but not all.  and out of my 3 hoods, 5 out of 6 are diamond not square...

My pic above is a factory hood pins, except the clip.

I was thinkinh of having a couple of the grommets made out of solid stock.  I don't like the way the hollow ones cut into the hood.
