Going down to Ga.
« on: December 31, 2006 - 10:20:34 AM »
:bananasmi  Well we were successful  We got the lil 71 Dart Swinger. So next weekend hopefully we'll be going down to Ga. and we won't be challenging the ole devil in a fiddle playing match either  :roflsmiley:. This lil black beauty will soon be meeting her four cousins down at the "Mopar Barn". Now this ole soon to be retired guy will have two Mopar projects to occupy his time. She's not a Demon, but one day she will be screaming like one  :roflsmiley:

The car is super solid, all panels intact, floors and trunk floor panels are rock solid. Only one small area on the passenger side rocker that has a few rust bubbles, but still solid underneath. The interrior is a shambles, however the dash has no cracks, has real nice door panels, car comes with new carpet, headliner, and rear tray. I will need to buy new upholstry for the rear and front seats. The car have been converted to disc brakes, with the larger bolt pattern, Rallye rims, new tires in front and good tread on the rear (14" front & 15" rear), it has had an 8 3/4 rear end installed (not sure grip though) and has the chrome trim for front and rear windows with new weather seals front and rear as well. What does she have?................just a little go power /6 for now, that's why I said she will one day scream like a demon, I have a big block conversion in the plans for her. So for now she is a NFL /6, that translates into Not For Long  :roflsmiley:

Rev. and Red went up and did one of their most thorough examinations / evaluation and needless to say with their  :2thumbs: I just had to come out on top with the high bid and pay for her. Should be picking her up next weekend.    Happy New Year to me and my lil sweetie    :bigshades:  :woohoo:  :clapping:

Jacksboys, are you familiar with the car, since you too are a Ga. boy ?

No, I cannot say that I have ever seen it before, but I have a 70 Dart (w/440) that is a race car and my father has a 74 Dart (w/360), so I have a little knowledge of A-bodies.  They are fun to drive with a good motor.

You will love a bigblock conversion in that light car.  Have fun  :burnout:

I just love the grille's on those darts.  The headlights look like eyes, with the hood dipped down to give it a mean look.  What year were those grilles?  '70 and '71?  Looks like a fun little abod with some soon to be big block power!   Have fun!  :burnout:

There are several reasons I want to get the 'cuda done. One is obvious, cause I wanna drive her, and the other one being my wife's 67 Dart GT will be the next restoration. I love a-bod's. To me, they are the next best thing to e-bodies.
And hey, WSM, that thing is going to be sinister looking in black w/ a big block.

I know these little A-bods really scoot. We used to have a 73 Scamp with a bone stock 318 2bl. and she was no slouch, she'd bark the tires with no problem. I have two possibilities with this one's engine. I have a 69 model 383 for which I also have a dual quad intake and carbs, a stroker kit maybe? And / or a moderately built 440 4bl. Either way she will be a "b!tch slappin" street rod. It will be interesting to put her up  against our 440+6 R/R, but it may take awhile for the smoke to clear so ya could see which got down the track first  :roflsmiley:

This old puppy is happy over all this. We had looked and looked for a 71 Demon. Glen and Scott (Plum 6pk and Pink Panther) looked at a couple in their area of the country, but something always bogged down in the process. And we have traveled from SW Mo. to SE Va. looking at 71 Demons. Either we didn't want the rust buckets or couldn't afford the price. I do know if this car were a Demon in the condition it is in it would have brought three times easily what I had to give for her. Sorry, don't ask how much, it's not so much a sceret but just something I don't like discussing publically. Ya always got somebody putting ya down no matter how much or how little you may have paid. But I didn't pay too much for sure. The condition of the body saves a lot of $$$$ that otherwise would have been spent in a body shop.     :jumping:  :burnout: Oh yeah baby, the old fart got a new toy.  :roflsmiley:
