Not bad for home painted
« on: December 31, 2006 - 05:17:12 PM »
Well, I got around to painting and installing my 70 grill christmas day. I thought it came out good.  I need one bucket chrome. But I don't have the 10,000 bucks to buy it right now...lol

Do you think it came out ok? I never did this before. I must warn everyone tho. If you buy the aftermarket grill install kit, You must grind the serated edges off the screws. If you don't it can crack your grill. I was lucky enough to realize it could and took me an extra 2 hrs to grind the thread ends down where they were made for self tapping. Or dare I say, self destruction.  What you guys think?

Not a real good detailed pic, but it looks good. I would think the aftermarket product might be harder to match up with spacing.....? I think ya did OK.

Alan, from what I can tell she's spot on.  :2thumbs:  GREAT WORK! but what is this "one bucket chrome" you need. I don't see anything missing. If I knew what you were needing I'd keep an eye open.   :dunno:

I don't think so..lol       The one chrome piece I'm missing goes around the passenger headlight bucket. I will find one under 150 bucks sooner or later... Thanks for all the remarks. There's nobody around here to see what I do, or to tell me it looks good. It raises my spirits up knowing other people are liking what there seeing. I have about 5k left to put into this car before it starts coming around in good shape. Wheels and tires is 1k, exhaust is 1k, interior is 2k, and the little things will be about 1k.'m installing a trailer hitch on my challenger to tow my barracuda to events so I can play with them both :2thumbs:

Happy New Year EVERYONE!!!!!

The grill looks great! Are you going to paint the center slats black? I ran into the same problem you did on the screws in the aftermarket kit. I ran all of them through a die to clean up the threads.
