torque converter help

I'm trying to put my torque converter in on my 904 and while it seems to be in, I never hear it click into place and if I look from the side of the bellhousing, the converter is sticking out only the width of the bolt brakets on the converter.  Is this right or does it need to go in further?

No, it is not in all the way.   The converter pads should be inside the bellhousing.


  You will have three "drop ins"
1. input shaft spline
2. stator shaft splines
3. pump gear
If you put the pump gear "drive tangs" at 12 and 6 o'clock and then put the converter hub slots at 12 and 6 o'clock it will make it install easier.

yep needs to go in all the way. you should have to pull it out about 1/8" or so to bolt it onto the flexplate. if not..no  for you, its back
