There does not seem to be a definitive restoration book for these cars. I have the Herd book and the Zazarine book, and have found errors in both. (The Zazarine book shows the same car that TreeFrog referenced, with the extra 'ears' on the hood blackout).
I also found pictures of that same car on 'The Challenger Homepage' (
http://challenger.mpoli.fi/the.dodge.challenger.homepage/start.htm, and click on '1970'...it is about halfway down the page). Of course, if you look throught the price list at the bottom of that webpage, the option code V21 is called 'Hood Performance
Paint Treatment'.
Well, we all agree that the hood blackout was only originally available as a decal - However it looked. I still think I'm going to try to replicate the hood decal by painting - I just wish I had the dimensions of the decal.
So far in this thread, we have learned that the engineering drawings do not match the dealer brochures (or actual cars), and that the restoration books are wrong. Well, it all adds to the fun of this hobby of ours, doesn't it?
